But first we have to see with the feds actually give a shit.
Depends, racketeering is racketeering, no matter what industry it happens in. This is an easy enough case, I don't see why they wouldn't go after it for any reason other than "it's just videogames," which has rarely proven a decent enough excuse to keep the feds from making a move.
I would love for someone who believes this is racketeering and is familiar with U.S.C. Title 18 and California PEN 186 to attempt explaining how in a way that actually fits statutory definitions. Internet lawyers have a bad habit of accusing people of conduct in a way that makes sense using general definitions of words or some Wikipedia article, but not what the law actually says. This is not a statement that I believe IndieCade or IGF are innocent of misconduct, this is a statement that racketeering is a more serious offense than can be leveled at people for allegedly failing to be objective in a festival contest.
I don't think it's racketeering still, I also don't think IGF is totally involved in this. I do, thought believe it is fraud, and that indiecade is guilty of it. You have to pay to get nominated, polytron getting prize money means anyone involved in the indie fund gets a payout too (this is part of the agreement), and indiecade is part of the indie fund. 5/12 of the people on the jury that voted in Fez had direct financial ties to it, and the person who organized the voting ALSO had ties.

In the chance that they are/were colluding, it is actually a form of illegal activity. It is a contest for money that has effects on things outside of the contest, and money exchanges hands. It will be looked upon by the courts as evidence comes to light. Making a surefire judgement right now is a bit out of reach. But there is definitely a reason to peer into this deeper.
All this drama would make for a good movie

I hope the creators of Antichamber didn't do the same thing- they're in the same situation as Phil Fish and that game seriously would have won even without any behind the scenes string pulling.
Now I would normally not defend Phil, but are we even sure he was in on this? I mean they could have just been using him and the Antichamber team, right? I wouldn't imagine they would have had to tell Phil or the Antichamber team the whole rigging the contest thing.

While Phil Fish is possibly guilty in knowing he'd win IGF, he could just be a pawn in the grand scheme of things.
doubt the fish is going to get 20 years, i'd say 5 max probs with a decent lawyer
lol at the disagrees yeah guys they're totally going to get the maximum sentence possible you'd have to defraud way fucking harder to get 20 years on a white collar crime most of you guys haven't even been alive that long stop and think about how long of a sentence that is Rod Blagojevich got 14 years for trying to sell a fucking Senate seat ffs
