Rumor: Microsoft possibly launching a wearable device within "weeks"

a wearable can just save you a couple of seconds - for example if you want to change the song you are listening to, or see why your phone beeped, you wouldn't need to get your phone out, but you can just raise your wrist.
you can use it as a remote control or something.
another cool feature android has is that can automatically disable password lock on your phone if it detects your watch nearby
the whole bullshit with keyboards is just experiments and does not have an actual place on a smartwatch
if you hate how most smartwatches look, check out the lg g watch r:

terrible name, but at least it looks like a normal watch
personally though, i think the moto 360 is fucking awesome:

I bet that wearable tech will become a staple in the near future. We don't have the best track record in guessing what new inventions will actually be used for.
I don't know if I ever will be able to embrace all this wearable shit. I mean I only have like two downloaded apps on my iPhone, I find the stock apps to do everything I need.
I see people keep saying "but pulling out a phone to tell the time is inconvenient" well just get a normal watch.

the future
As a G Watch owner, I feel like if there's ever a time for Microsoft to unveil something it's around now.
Even android wear currently just feels like a gigantic beta test because a lot of features are either not modeled correctly, buggy or otherwise unintuitive.
If Microsoft could nail down a WP-compatible watch with acceptable design and specs (like this concept) around the time Android Wear 2.0 hits in early November (it looks like current AW owners generally like the Moto 360 in terms of design and the G Watch / R for the specs), then we could see a good amount of competition and maturation of smartwatches before the applewatch even releases.
IMO if you're like me and get a billion messages on the phone everyday then a smartwatch would be somewhat useful. Like I already use pushbullet and it does save me a couple of seconds because I don't need to reach for my phone. Glancing at your watch seems much less stupid than taking your phone out of your pocket every 5 seconds.
A smartwatch would be exactly that. Its an expensive push notification pager machine that you wear. You can see the time, read emails, messages, song name, navigation without needing to reach for your phone.
Besides not all wearable necessarily make you look like some geeky douchbag. The LG Watch R looks like a casino G shock until you get a really close look at it.
