While I do strongly disagree with CP, cupcakes does make a good point.
Some of the accusations made against people for possession of child pornography and other such things breaks my unfair-o-meter
I read a story about a woman who took a picture of her daughter in the bathtub. This was a picture of a child in a bathtub up to her neck in bubbles. When she went to get the pictures developed, she was ARRESTED AND HER COMPUTER WAS TAKEN AWAY AND SHE LOST CUSTODY OF HER CHILD because the picture contained one of those bathtub showerhead sprayer things, and obviously things like that initiate sexual thoughts and tendencies, and there is no other reason why a fucking SHOWERHEAD could be in a picture of a BATHTUB
You are way too easily suckered by media fearmongering.
i guarantee that the original shitstorm, before the "concequences will never be the same" video, had little to nothing to do with 4chan.
the shitstorm afterwards did because they were the ones that ate it up and regurgitated all of the shitty lines into bad memes. the video got the attention of all the delinquent kids and they started bombarding their house with death threats and pizzas and such.
all of the previous 4chan raids have been harmless or damaging for the intent of nobility. not necessarily good, but usually it's a crusade that involves goatse and abuse for the end cause of something okay. but this has no good involved. it's just layer upon layer of shit. it's not funny. this was just a bunch of immature little kids jumping on a situation and claiming it as their own, and an attempt to look badass and dredge 4chan up from the dead pools of the internet. PS it's not working
Informative. I resent my accusations.

so what you're saying is that it's okay if the ends justify the means
Hay, i am just now starting to follow this, so can someone tell me if i got this right? Girls posts CP, 4chan trolls her, she is in police care or whatever, then she kills herself?
Aw jeez.
At first I was happy that TH89 (Already one of my preferred Moderators) was weeding out some of the jackasses, but then I noticed that a few people I liked were on that ban list.
Too Bad.
Also: While I do believe that we shouldn't simply be laughing at this crap, I figure a warning would've been nice. I mean come on, now- a permaban reason I've only seen used in one, maybe two threads, suddenly becoming a really serious offense? A warning in advance could've prevented the arguments and perhaps some of the remarks made.
(On the other hand, simply throwing the reason out there weeds the true idiots out, as otherwise they could simply avoid mentioning the topic, and continue throwing around their "Funny" nonsense. Hnggg, can't take a side.)
Hope the girl didn't kill herself. I'm one of those people who worries about the person before they start getting death threats. That'd not only be horrible, but it'd give the actually funny internet types the worst reputation imaginable.

The girl is not dead.

Not even close. Girl posts stupid videos of her being a stupid 11 year old, /b/ does the usual trolling they do, girl posts reply video to trolling with a bunch of swearing and threats and other dumb stuff, and /b//that blog site/whoever goes totally apeshit and raids her life. Girl posts tearful apology video with Yosemite Mario, her dad, in the back yelling. Internet contiunes to raid, send threats, etc, girl goes into protective custody.
I believe that's about it
EDIT: oh and the cp's in there somewhere, she posted some pic of her lifting up her shirt or something
You just banned a lot of people for "meme"
before the phrases even really became memes.
EDIT: oh and the cp's in there somewhere, she posted some pic of her lifting up her shirt or something
she's covering most of it with her hand. Which isn't hard because at 11 she's not exactly developed. I don't even think that's legally considered porn. A photo of her in a two piece would be more revealing.
also she didn't kill herself and she's actually reveling in her internet infamy
You are way too easily suckered by media fearmongering.
please explain to me how the event that I described was not a huge injustice against the person who took that picture
maybe it wasn't true or something
You are way too easily suckered by media fearmongering.
Well if that story is right, its kinda fucked up.

Ironically, I think she made pics like that as well
Uh, no, you PMed me another counterfeit coupon.

They work pussy I even have proof
They work pussy I even have proof
Okay, post it then.
EDIT: Actually better yet, what I care more about is whether you actually got a legal coupon or you just got a counterfeit one off /b/. Prove it's not the latter.
I think she deserved most of the hate she got, although certainly her and her family don't deserve death threats and random pizzas. That's just going too far. Oh well, she gave shit and got shit back. An 11 year old shouldn't screw around on the internet.

Let's give TH89 a time machine and see what happens
Update: A spokeswoman for the Marion County, Florida sheriff's department confirms that they are investigating a case regarding an 11-year-old girl with details that closely matches Jessi Slaughter's story. However, the Sheriff's office says that they're only investigating allegations that there are pornographic photos of her online. "Basically we're just investigating if these pictures do actually exist," the spokeswoman says. They're also looking into prank calls to Jessi's house that have referenced the alleged photos.
And the death threats Jessi's mom told us about? "There have been no death threats or threats of harm in any way" towards Jessi, according to the spokeswoman.
We've personally seen provocative images splashed on 4chan's /b/ message board for users to mock—some that might even border on child porn. Users have also repeatedly mentioned nude pictures of Jessi, though who knows if that's legit since 4chan users are completely anonymous and will say anything to shock.
So agreeing with what happened to her will get you permd?
A lot of these bans are just absolutely unfair.
Since when do you ban someone for a week for "meme"?
And a little warning should be implemented instead of just banning everyone who ever said it. I mean this thing didn't even start until 3 or 4 days ago. They posted that stuff before it was even considered a meme.
But oh shit once it becomes a meme, you must ban everyone who ever said it. No no no no, don't just ban the people who say it after it becomes a meme, ban everybody!

The first was 4chan the second was legit.

i find gawker's truthiness to be a little shaky sometimes, is this info available on other news sites as well?
Will anyone be watching the show? I will try and make an effort to see it.
The first was 4chan the second was legit.
You're saying you did send me a fake one?
i find gawker's truthiness to be a little shaky sometimes, is this info available on other news sites as well?
I don't know, if I recall Gawker's the first one that said she got death threats in the first place.
If you Google "Jessi Slaughter death threats" every practically everyone says "she got death threats, according to he mother" If they have to keep making a point that her mom said it I doubt it's that reliable. I'd trust a supposed police spokesperson more than her mother.
But really no news source that's stuck covering this stupid story is going to be that reliable
snip no ban please
You're saying you did send me a fake one?
They're not fake if they work, their just not legit. Quit being butthurt and accept it damn. Not trying to flame you but quit complaining because I didn't directly give you what you wanted. Take it or leave it man, I am not forcing you to keep it.
Sent proof in a PM.
Note to self: Do not laugh at funny things on Facepunch.
Well if that story is right, its kinda fucked up.
It's an isolated incident of something unfortunate happening to someone, and probably ended up getting sorted out alright
It's not a reason to go WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO OH NO CHILD PORN LAWS ARE SO RIDICULOUS
