The British are still using bayonets? pft.
No problem, let's see you invent a gun with chainsaw attached
Aye, soldiers are trained to do this kind of thing as well, in war it is you or him.
In fact one american paratrooper in WWII described it as seeing the enemy as uniforms, not as people.
He said he ran out of ammunition after killing one man
Either the british don't carry much spare ammunition, or that was one tough taliban.
Either the british don't carry much spare ammunition, or that was one tough taliban.
Read the telegraph article a couple of pages back it's worded better than the OP.
The British are still using bayonets? pft.
Many modern militaries still have bayonets. The US also still issues bayonets as well several others. A soldier is going to carry a knife anyway, so you might as well have a knife that attaches to your gun. In that sense there's not much reason to not carry one.
Every British Infantryman is issued a Sig 9mm Pistol for self-defense.
The British Army's main sidearm is the FN/Browning Hi-Power. The P22# series is limited issue. As it's been said, pistols are only issued to Officers and men in special roles such as Snipers.
Either the british don't carry much spare ammunition, or that was one tough taliban.
Well I'd assume he had fought against some other militants before hand or did not reload (because this ain't a FPS where your low ammo mags suddenly re stoke themselves in the new gun).
Either the british don't carry much spare ammunition, or that was one tough taliban.
It probably meant just in his mag. Maybe the situation didn't permit him time to reload? [editline]08:54PM[/editline]
Actually the SA80 IS still longer than the M4, barrel wise.
Barrel wise yes, but not in actual length. The whole point of bullpups is that they have similar length barrels to full length rifles (Or have a very long barrel if the same overall length as say, an M16) but are overall shorter, more balanced and handier.

But yes, Side-arms are not carried by everyone.

That' fucking Badass right there.
I knew they were still trained to use bayonets but I didn't think anybody would use them
Source? I'll check wiki and look through one of my books. Edit, Wiki says the P226, and P229 are both used, with the P226 and the P228 in use with the SAS. Some photos for those who don't know what modern day bayonets look like: British SA80 Bayonet (Obviously intended to fit the SA80, probably the one used in this case) This one is interesting in that it actually fits over the end of the barrel. If you were to fire the weapon with it attached the bullet would go past the blade. American M9 Bayonet (fits on the M16 and M4) This one is fitted under the barrel. Most other modern bayonets mount in a similar manner. AK-47 Bayonet (for AK-47, duh) Also mounts under the barrel.
Imagine if he charged and got the fuck shot out of him
I have an M16 rifle Bayonet, doesn't look like either of those though.
Actually, not to go off-topic, but I think multiple armies are trained in bayonette combat; British, some Middle-Eastern, Chinese, etc..
I have an M16 rifle Bayonet, doesn't look like either of those though.
It could be the older M7 bayonet, which is still used and sometimes preferred over the M9 in some cases:
Why do people claim this man has balls, all he did was stab a Taliban to prevent him from being killed. It was most likely just a reflex and he didn't really think about it.
What I want to know is, how much ammo do they give to each soldier? He said he used ALL of his ammo on ONE guy. Either he's a bad shot or they ration the bullets to shit.

I can upload a couple of pics if you like?

Also, let me see you stab a guy who has a loaded gun pointed at you.

The early models aren't used anymore. If you read on in that wiki article, it says that the A2 model, is a heck of alot better.
as is expected by a british soldier, us germans treated them with respect and still do can't say i'd expekt the same thing out of a pig ( i mean the american)
cause we kicked your fuckin ass in ww1 and 2 fuck yeah
cause we kicked your fuckin ass in ww1 and 2 fuck yeah *flag*
NO! Ugh, here we go again, although he did bring it up, for no reason whatsoever, I mean he just brought out "I hate americans out of nowhere" But still..
NO! Ugh, here we go again, although he did bring it up, for no reason whatsoever, I mean he just brought out "I hate americans out of nowhere" But still..
america is the best country in the world end of discussion
If you run out of ammunition, which do you think is more deadly? A sharp bayonet or a blunt gun barrel?
Why not carry swords around
You get medals for stabbing people now? BRB finding some hobos in Afghanistan.
