The War is no better than the General and vice versa. We might as well have a Commander who can get into the spirit and provide the best possible security.
It's a war out there, cowboy! :clint:
I agree.
War is only fun in a video game.

yes because you've obviously been through war
what's up with a load of facepunch crying if we kill some taliban?
they deserve it.
As horrid as it sounds, a mentality like this is a definite advantage in a war...
I don't blame him, and for the most part he is right that these men he's fighting don't deserve the lives they've been given.
It's horribly oppressive there, men are treated on top of everyone else, they follow a barbaric system of cultural laws. So yes, I honestly think that westernizing the middle east is the best idea since sliced bread.
To impose our culture on others is morally wrong.
I don't see the problem, a lot of people are horrified of war, but a few people love it.
These people aren't saying it's fun to shoot terrorists, they're saying it's fun to shoot non-terrorist-affiliated insurgents and civilians.
People? The article is about one person. You may want him to be talking about civilians, but he obviously isn't.
To impose our culture on others is morally wrong.
However, we let other cultures openly claim themselves to be better than ours. I don't say we should impose ours and stuff, but it's strange how everyone in the western world is so quick to bash the very culture they live in, while other cultures in the world are all perfectly fine with themselves, which sorta gives them a slight psychological advantage in world politics and all.
I say, other cultures are no lesser than ours. Other SOCIETIES, however, in some cases, are undeniably a few steps behind ours.
He's already been on the battlefield countless times already.
Yeah he "visited" the battlefield, I know. Anyway even if he did take part in real fights (where he could really die and all), he's still an asshole.
Reminds me of this man:

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
that guy was pretty young at the time, young people aren't known as particularly smart people.
A commander with balls is a good commander
He only means those fighting us, not just civilians shopping at a market anyway
yes because you've obviously been through war
Are you saying I can't say "war is not a fun thing" unless I go through it?
The day you enjoy killing is the day you walk out the front door
To impose our culture on others is morally wrong.
Morality is a funny thing. See, what you hold to be "morally acceptable" could be radically different from person to person. Implementing the argument that something is "morally wrong" leads to things like the ban on gay marriage or marijuana.
[editline]04:32PM[/editline]
It's only natural for animals to kill.
Are you saying I can't say "war is not a fun thing" unless I go through it?
To be very honest you can't have an opinion on war from a civilian point of stand. But you can from a political one.
To be very honest you can't have an opinion on war from a civilian point of stand.
He's already proven you wrong.

Well war must be fun then, because I have no experience that it isn't, and this commander here sure is saying it's a blast.

Some people love the adrenaline of the fight. Maybe he's one of the few who sign up for the thrill of battle?

Those are Canadian bases, what makes you think WE want him
He'll start shooting birds and bears and shit
I admire his last sentence... I think I got my wish for a more Patton like commander in this war.
If your going to do it you might as well enjoy it
His job is not to kill, silly.

Commander with balls indeed. Guy fired a dude because he wasn't aggressive enough.
"Actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. You know it's a helluva hoot. I'll be right up front with you. I like brawling. You go into Afghanistan, you get guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil ... guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."
he sounds like the kind of guy that'd smack his wife for no reason

Although cruel and perhaps sadistic he is somewhat understandable.

He himself is probably some wife-beating, overly-nationalistic redneck.

He'd be killed in an instant. He doesn't realize Call of Duty doesn't constitute as war experience.
Jesus Gmodfan, I don't even know where to begin.
The 'quote', you attribute to a US sniper was originally from an SAS sniper. But even that quote was a myth in the first place.
You then go on to say that "these people" (when the article talks of only one person) enjoys killing civilians. As there is no fucking reason to believe this, why would you say that?
And then you make the assumption that a veteran in Afghanistan for 5 years has less fucking combat experience than you do, and bases his opinions on Call of Duty.
