You're all a bunch of pussy's, its just words. Now you got a bunch of idiots in here that want to generalize the entire Armed Forces because of one persons words. Get real will you guys.
It's called a coping mechanism too, people say shit they don't necessarily mean or would normally say to help them with the situation at hand. Being at war will take a toll on you no matter what, you all think this is a video game in the good guy wins and only the bad guys lose. Doesn't work that way.
Get. Real.
They're really just punishing him for being desensitized, which I think is dumb.
ITT: FP thinks having sympathy and burying everyone you shoot is the way to stay sane. :downs:

Having sympathy and burying the dead is a completely different story than saying that it is fun to kill people.
What are you on about, just because they used swords earlier war was never more honourable. I'm afraid you're looking at the middle ages with rode tinted glasses.
No, the knights couldn't do anything bad 'cause of chivalry, so they just went around slaying dragons most of the times.
Or because:
1. They failed at school/uni/college
2. They are criminals and the military is their way out
etc'
That's actually pretty insulting. Maybe some people do this, but a majority do it to help pay for college or server their country.

Yeah, but if you don't have the right mentality you will go crazy most likely. He's coping, it's not all that shocking or surprising, really.
War is only fun in a video game.

People who rated disagree are future serial killers.
Whoever said that this man needs to go on a battlefield are idiots because if you send a General on the battlefield and he gets killed that just fucks up the whole armies morale and leadership.
If that sick fuck wants to talk about honor then he should take a sword and join the battlefield...
Fuckin dishonorable wars nowadays.
It's always a knee-slapper when kids on the internet that have read too many Manga books say this. :v:
As a horde of people who spend a lot of time playing simulations where you run about shooting guns, blowing things up, killing people, and competing to the death, are you saying it's wrong to find this fun?
You enjoy the exact same thing as him, you're just pussies and make up lameass excuses about why it's "wrong" to kill.
Humans are just lumps of matter.
This is what you do in war. You don't think of the other side as fathers and husbands or sons, you think of them as targets, or you'd simple go insane.
People who can't do this are the people who end up going insane, sinking into depression, killing themselves, their partners, or their children.
They even spoofed the whole "nameless henchman has a family" thing in Concerned and Austin Powers
He isn't talking about civilians, he is talking about scumbags that would use a mother as a meatsheild and kill innocents indiscriminately in the name of their bloody cause.
It's a great mentality to have when in war.
How's that sociopathy working out for you? Torture any good animals lately?
Yes, that's what I do. Because I'm a realist I torture animals.
Yes it is terrible to suffer and we should not relish in causing it.. but in the end someone has to die - Us, or Them.
So you would rather preserve every human life on the planet and over-populate it, over-stretch our resources, than suffer the variable amount of regret and solemnity that comes with death?
We are nature, nature is violent. The only thing that restrains me from killing is the idea of profit.. as much as I or you can hide that by calling it love, respect, etc, in the end it's still profit. How? Not getting arrested, not being singled out, not having people who want me to kill, the enjoyment I might have gotten out of whatever I killed while it was still alive, etc.
It's the same reason people DO kill - Us or them. We get what they have. The other people who want him dead look up to me. Profit.
Human beings are fucking sick and twisted and there is nothing good about them. Every action we take is about making a profit, which all boils down to escaping death.
Deal with it.

this is totally correct. the guy put it really bluntly/crudely, but soldiers are taught to dehumanize their enemies. I've got to agree with him, the complete and total sexism (among other things in their judicial and social system) is a good enough reason to get in their and liberate the shit out of them.

Wow, you're pretty fucked up.
Thanks for the compliments bro.
It might seem callous or cold-hearted, but it's how things are. It's how my logical deductions have constructed the world relatively for me.
Feel free to give ANY example that proves otherwise.
No... no. He's just an idiot.
Just stop. You're patronizing the entire human race.
That's right, sugar coat is with words like "sacrifice" and "valour".

I prefer words like "projection," since you seem to be attributing your sociopathy to other people.
I see your valid point, but I'd still like an example where someone does anything that they do not believe will, either immediately or in time, yield profitable results.
Just because money is more tangible than other things, doesn't make it more important, or more of a profit.
Stop seeing the persuit of profit as something bad, I'm not saying it is, that's just how people are. One day my idea of profit could be laughter, the next money, the next a favour from a friend, the next feeling loved, etc etc.
Facepunch... I am disappoint.
Why not donate some of those bleeding hearts instead of wasting them debating sarcastic remarks online?

But most people find killing "unprofitable" because of the guilt and psychological trauma. Any illusion of having fun is a coping mechanism to survive in stressful situations. But this guy isn't in combat, he's just sitting in his desk talking about how fun killing people is.

Yes, we're bleeding hearts because we don't revel in bloodshed

Well exactly he's found a way, like many of the currently fighting infanteers (and mind you he was a former infantryman) to make killing "profitable". This war is over-all profitable for what Western society holds dear, and the soldiers fighting it need to see that too, and make it (in their own minds) profitable.
Plus that's exactly why those who find it "unprofitable" are not soldiers.
That's right, sugar coat is with words like "sacrifice" and "valour".
That's patronizing too.
War is war. It's loose tradition more than anything, everybody needs to have an enemy at all times. People need to stop all this pseudo-philosophical bullshit about war, shut up about all this "human beings are sick and twisted blaw blaw blaw :emo:"
War would be far less worse if it were more about respect for your enemy and displaying integrity for yourself.
