Idea Factory Will No Longer Localize Games Which Need Censoring for Western Regulations

Actually you would be wrong because if they had no power
Why the fuck do they show up in places like the Guardian. You don't need to have much real power, just the ability to scream the loudest and news companies will run it.
The west should chill out
Given the high number of anime type releases on steam lately, I suspect what this actually means is that a lot of English anime releases will be coming to PC only in the future, where they can release them unrated on steam with pretty much no questions asked barring games with certain "content". Sony is the only company that ever had much of a market for these games and it seems like the western market is becoming more hostile to games seen as overly sexy being in the mainstream. Whether that is real or perceived makes no difference to the companies publishing.
At this point I'd almost be willing to make wacko games just to stir shit up. I don't think I can deal with the huge amount of crazies breathing down my neck though.

The east should ignore the small cliche of offended hipsters and publish their games anyway. Shame they won't.

Honestly I think they were more sick of localization teams having people in them drastically altering the content to their agenda instead of translating it as close to the original as possible, and misrepresenting their games.
I'm sure it was partially both, but I can't imagine how disheartening it is for a content creator to find out how misrepresented their games were in the markets where they sold the most.
Like, imagine if you painted something, spent years getting it just the way you wanted it, then someone else you payed to help sell it smeared shit all over it, and then sold it to another town, and it was sold more in the other town with shit smeared all over it than the way you originally painted it.
I have to assume that feels crushing.

You know what really comes to mind?

I saw Nausicaä on Laserdisk way back in the day and then saw "Warriors of the wind" a few years later on VHS; and even at a young age I was revolted at the changes. Its totally messed up that changes like this is still happening, and even more enraging at how the people doing it this time around feel all self-righteous about it too. I mean how fucking arrogant do you have to be to think that this is acceptable?
Thing is, the Japanese criminal code is far more strict than that of most western nations. Publishing pornography in Japan can be punished with jail time, while in the west it's generally considered to be a protected form of expression.
The ESRB and people on Twitter are not the law. You can ignore them and publish nearly whatever you want here without fear of being prosecuted. That's not the case in Japan.

Well it's a good thing literally nobody was talking about pornography then, huh?
