http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28476153 BBC is reporting on it too.
Well they're still not reporting if it's actually happening, but public info from the US. Personally I'd prefer some confirmed sources to be fully honest.
Russian soldier being a dumbass on social media led to this. This is more or less being reported because ok Ukraine claiming that Russia is shelling them. Some rebels sources I've seen claim to be getting support from Russia as well. Really though, in the end this isn't exactly full proof of anything, except Russian soldiers don't know OPSEC... I mean, I'm just saying if you actually are shelling Ukraine from Russia, probably shouldn't go on the Russian version of Facebook and talk about it.
Well, the whole point of special forces is that they are trained enough to take minimum casualties. Yeah, there is always a risk, but they can still disguise themselves as rebels in case of being captured or killed.
Perhaps. The Ukrainian military has claimed in the past that there are spetsnaz fighting alongside the rebels and training them, but so far as I can tell there's very little evidence to support that assertion. They did use spetsnaz early on in Crimea and there's some photographic evidence of that, but as the conflict drags on I personally suspect the benefits of using spetsnaz are decreasing for the Russians.
