There is so much tension between nations nowadays. I have a really bad feeling about this. Something involving Venezuela and oil exportation.

It seems that these days oil = war.

Not this shit again.
why do they (UK) want an island thousands of miles away, or something
Because its ours. Case closed.
TL;DR : Argentina doesn't want the UK to drill for oil around the Falklands. UK sends warships to remind them what happened the last time they messed with us.
Argentinia is trying to steal our islands?
No go away, they're ours get your own!
your country just wants oil
oil war oil war
your country just wants oil
oil war oil war
I don't get this. Why is it whenever oil is mentioned, people make the country that is trying to extract it out to be some greedy warmongering country that will do anything to get their hands on the stuff?
Britain has known there is oil in the Falklands for quite some time, and you can't really criticise us for wanting to extract the stuff just because Argentina is getting all fussy. How is extracting oil from the Falklands any different from extracting it in the North Sea?
Also, quite ironic for you to say that given you are an American.
Really hope nobody actually gets killed over something this petty
That would be really sad
I was talking to the kids at school about this today. None of them had any idea what the Falkland war was or where it is.
Upon further questioning they don't know who the Vice President is either. This is America, but really, they're Juniors and Seniors.
I'm going to root for the returning champ for this.

I think his post was tongue in cheek....
If we owned those islands, we wouldn't know what to do with them... IMO they'd probably be completely neglected -thanks to our piece of shit government, for starters-. Anything outside Buenos Aires is usually deserted (except a few major cities), and don't get me started about northern or southern Argentina...
Somebody told me once there was some kind of national movement endorsed by our government, destined to send people over there to recolonize the Falklands with argentine people, but almost nobody volunteered to it, or cared about it (probably because our goverment said something like "Yeah we pay you the plane ticket and all, but once you're down there you'll be on your own :v:"), so they had to shut it down.
Truth is, if you ask any argentine what they think about this, they'd probably say "Those islands are ours! Fuck the brits!" but our government doesn't think the same way... and even if they did, we wouldn't stand a chance (military speaking). So we can argue for hours and hours about how those islands are ours, but we haven't done anything relevant to really protect them from outsiders over the last ~200 years.
Since I'm a lover and not a fighter (not really :P), if it was up to me, I'd probably hand you those islands and call it a day :v:
I don't really see a war coming out over this honestly. The climate is too different from the 1980s.
Then again, FP has to make everything seem like a war could start over it.

Nah, there's no war coming... I'd be a terrible waste...
was it not soviet russia
Bolshevik Russia. :eng101:
Most that'll happen is a bit of leering from the Argentine government over the oil.
Let me tell Facepunch of a story my dad told me about the last Falklands war and how he would be dead now if this never happened.
Well my dad said all of his regiment (1 Devon and Dorset 1DnD For short) was all kitted up in the uk to be shipped to the Falklands but apparently the welsh guard went on that ship instead and my dads regiment got shipped to Germany. Well what happened when the welsh guard got there apparently the welsh guard wouldn't get off the ship because it was to cold (pussy's) so they stayed on there and what happened next? the ship got bombed that morning and the welsh guard on the ship died because they where all in bed being baby's about how cold it was and then ship sank. So im very glad my dad never went if he did i wouldn't be typing this now. :q:
In 1982, the Welsh Guards (CO Lieutenant-Colonel John Rickett) formed part of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the British Task Force sent to liberate the Falkland Islands from Argentinian occupation during the Falklands War. On 7 June they were on board the ill-fated Sir Galahad, which was accompanied by Sir Tristram, waiting to be landed at Bluff Cove though they were delayed from doing so. However, attack was imminent after the landing craft were spotted by Argentinian observers. At 2:00 am, five Dagger and five A-4 Skyhawk aircraft were seen over the Falklands. Shortly afterwards, the Daggers were the first to attack. They hit the frigate HMS Plymouth with cannon fire as well as bombs.
Only a short time later, the Skyhawks reached Fitzroy, with three of the aircraft hitting the Sir Galahad two or more times with horrific consequences. Sir Tristram was also hit which killed two crewmen, both ships were ablaze. The attack on Sir Galahad culminated in dreadfully high casualties, 48 dead, 32 of them Welsh Guards, 11 other Army personnel and five crewmen from Sir Galahad herself. There were many wounded, many suffering from horrendous burns caused by fire from the burning ships most notably, Simon Weston. The burnt-out Sir Galahad was later scuttled at sea to allow her to become a war grave. Sir Tristram herself was repaired and rebuilt in 1985.
The Welsh Guards returned home soon after the war concluded. They had performed with valour and courage in their involvement in a war 8,000 miles from home, all the more astonishing with the fact they were more adjusted to the numerous ceremonial duties they performed in London. Members of the regiment were awarded 1 Military Cross (MC) and 3 Military Medals (MM). The regiment' was awarded the theatre honour "Falkland Islands 1982".
Guys there is not going to be any war. Argentina is no longer being ruled by a militaristic dictator like they were used to back back in the 1980s.
I don't see a war coming over this one. Politicans are gonna yell abit and then it's over.

Never say never.
I thought you were Israeli
Knowing Israel they'll use it as an excuse to invade Tunisia or some shit.
It's what they usually do.
Maybe next time we won't let our boats get demolished in the harbour.
