I'm Argentinian and probably one of the few people here that think the islands really belong to the British. I hate when people think they should belong to us just because we are closer. As far as I know, and can remember, the islands were given to the British around 150-200 years ago when one of our former president signed some treaty that declared them the rightful owner of the islands, or atleast that's what our history teacher taught us 2-3 years ago back in High School.
none of that matters when resources are at stake
yeah, that's why it's so funny the argentinians think they have a chance
The amount of support for this is amazing. The Falklands war was a joke. Britain should have just salted the entire countryside so no vegetation would ever grow again, and left it for the Argentinians to deal with a shitty little desert island.
We really should just throw all the Scottish over there and give them breath mints and hose pipes, that way they can flawlessly defend the place and continue getting our Oil.
Britain should have just salted the entire countryside so no vegetation would ever grow again, and left it for the Argentinians to deal with a shitty little desert island.
yet Britain kept it and found oil

Haha, we got the Typhoon, and the tornado! BRING IT ON BITCHES
Harriers for the win.
Haha, we got the Typhoon, and the tornado! BRING IT ON BITCHES
And apart from the squadron based in the Falklands, absolutely no way of being able to use them. All we have is a handful of ageing Harriers on 2 ageing carriers.
"The Falklands War, two bald men fighting over a comb."
*spazm* wtf britun u didnt abndun it ?? wtf why oil dumbshit
Oh right, because that's a great investment. Fight for a lump of dirt that'll give you a marginal amount of oil to suspend your economy for a few more years. ITT: a bunch of 15 year olds who don't understand the moral and material cost of a war for nothing. "YEAH LETS FUCK DEM UP BOOOOYEES!!"
Britain should have just salted the entire countryside so no vegetation would ever grow again, and left it for the Argentinians to deal with a shitty little desert island.
I'm not surprised that you're Canadian.
ITT: retard doesn't understand that there is shitloads of oil (not a marginal amount) there and fighting argentina's crappy army will be worth it the oil has become worth drilling since costs have come up if argentina sends ships to stop them, they will be destroyed
Ah, more petty problems. If it's really that important to them, Britain shouldn't even dignify Argentina by paying them any attention. This is just like the 80's again, two nations puffing out their chests again to distract people from real problems.
Gordon Brown's apparent bullying is a bigger headline. Seriously, the Falklands story is a welcome break from some of the crap that's been in UK news recently.
Gordon Brown's apparent bullying is a bigger headline. Seriously, the Falklands story is a welcome break from some of the crap that's been in UK news recently.
That's hardly news, that's just funny.
Like I said, a nice break from the crap in the news recently. Its been a slow news week I guess.
Harriers for the win.
Those aren't Harriers :awesome:
Oh yes pick a fight with a country up to its eyeballs in depth. I bet if it was an American Island England would get their shit kicked
British Pre-emptive strike on Chile. I seen 'em eyein' it.
Oh yes pick a fight with a country up to its eyeballs in depth.
in depth? what does that even mean?
I bet if it was an American Island England would get their shit kicked
Pretty sure that it wouldn't happen because otherwise NATO would fall apart. There would be much bigger things at stake.
in depth? what does that even mean? Pretty sure that it wouldn't happen because otherwise NATO would fall apart. There would be much bigger things at stake.
The country is in debt And if it was an American owned island they wouldn't even bother fighting them for it regardless of NATO
The UK is in debt too. And this sort of disagreement would never happen with the US, being allies and all, sharing bases and have been doing so for decades, protecting common interests and being the lynch pins of NATO and all that. Not since Suez in 1956 has such a major disagreement between the UK and US occurred AFAIK.
British Pre-emptive strike on Chile. I seen 'em eyein' it.
Chile are the UK's allies. In fact if things in the 1982 war went bad for the UK, its was highly probable Chile would have got involved. The country was a safe haven for SAS operatives operating in Argentina. And Argentina had most of their armed forces on the Chilean border to repel such a threat from Chile.
Oh yes pick a fight with a country up to its eyeballs in depth. I bet if it was an American Island England would get their shit kicked
Obviously if it was an American Island and we tried to mine oil on it, shit would kick off. However, this island belongs to Britain and therefore Argentina should have little to no say in it.
The fuck is wrong with her face?
See thats what i thought.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has asked 'Mrs Queen' to hand over the Falklands to Argentina. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8529969.stm Edited: Thought he was President of Argentina, turns out he's the Venezuelan President who is supporting Argentina.
"The Falklands War, two bald men fighting over a comb."
A comb with a lot of oil in it?
The President of Argentina has asked 'Mrs Queen' to hand over the Falklands. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8529969.stm
What would we do with all the British citizens if control was handed over anyway? Ship them back to Britain?
The President of Argentina has asked 'Mrs Queen' to hand over the Falklands. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8529969.stm
Considering the Queen of 'England' has no power beyond compulsorily signing laws into power, I really have no idea why he's addressing her.
