I think it's funny when people say "it often gets xx degrees warm here", stating a number that exceeds the region or nation's heat record. I notice it a lot in this forum. For instance:
I think I got 47 degree weather once when I was in Romania during this summer. It was in the middle of the capital city and it was toasty as all fuck.
The hottest recorded temperature recorded in Romania is 44.5 °C, and that was more than 60 years ago. The hottest recorded in the capital city, Bucharest, is 40.0 °C. However I can excuse this guy because he said 'I think'. Most 'folks can't be excused.
Also not long ago an electrical transformer literally exploded down the street due to the heat, shit was awesome until I realised we had to spend the next six hours without power.
Phoenix hit 123F six times over the summer here.
Wait, what, really? Guess I forgot how much worse Pheonix could get than the outer cities.
No we don't, 115 isn't too uncommon, but only happens maybe 3 days a year. 120+ is pretty damn rare ever for Arizona. And either way, 116 is really fucking hot.
I've lived here all my life, so you have no place saying that
Holy shit, and I sometimes can't even handle 30°C without sweating my balls off. I feel bad for the people affected by it.
I've lived here all my life, so you have no place saying that
I've leaved here for over 10 years.
It's 40C in Brisbane today and I'm still doing my daily kilometre run and workout. Man the fuck up Facepunch.
What's a km run, 4 minutes? That's not even enough time to get hot
It's 40C in Brisbane today and I'm still doing my daily kilometre run and workout. Man the fuck up Facepunch.
Holy shit guys look at this badass over here running a little over half a mile in the heat! You must be a god among men.

Admittedly I'm pretty unfit, but spending two months cramming study then undergoing another month of therapy for spine injury will do that to you. Easing back into shit takes time.
I prefer the heat, the last few summers have just been rain, rain, and more rain. This one's looking to be an actual summer.
I've been to Australia when i was 9 years old (1999) driving from sydney along the coast through the desert to ayers rock, and fuck me we could hardly sit on the seats in the car without putting a towel on it when it was over 35 degrees. Gotta say i miss the country tho, loved traveling there for 3 months, 14 years now since but it feels more like 20 because i was so little.
Sounds intense. My aunt lives in Lake Havasu, Arizona which gets around 120*F on a really hot year. I can see where you're coming from when you can't even walk barefoot on the pavement without losing skin.
I'd rather freeze at -47 than cook at plus 47, at least you can do something about -47, like lighting a fire

You guys should come down to WA its cooled down recently.
As an Australian who works in an ice cream store, this is the worst news ever.
Is it at least dry heat? 47 C + humidty sounds like death.
The past two summers in the southern parts of Texas have been 105F+ (some days up to 117F) with 90% humidity. It was like that for 5 months straight at a time. We haven't had any sort of decent rain either in the past 3 years and have been in bad drought conditions for all that time.

Yeah, well, occasionally in Britain the sun comes out in summer. It might even hit 25C+ on rare occasion. Then rain the day after.
This is normal summer weather, nothing to see here, move along.
I thought those were myths you told foreigners so they wouldn't leave?
I remember talking to a guy who was doing a couple of years of study in the UK from India, and he honestly thought that we lived in a constant state of monsoon all year round, and was almost disappointed with the truth. But don't worry, the nigh on constant overcast drizzle wore him down eventually.
Luckily I'm in one of the lower temperature areas, but where I live has a pool.
i think uit got somewhere around that in wisconsin during the huge heatwave last july
The grass is hot to walk on :(
or thats what it was in direct sunlight
Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to stay in this country.
1:05 of this Ricky Gervais joke and onwards applies fairly well, but with heat instead of cold.
getting the mail out of the postbox on these days is pretty much like a "how fast can you run" competition
Even during the night in SA it's still in the mid 30's :(
