Will this end up like the Russian olympics? The entire village and everything was build super fast and as soon the event was finished everything started to rot once again [t]https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--VqSvVID3--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/gjvcwgkxzf7xnthatrhu.jpg[/t][t]http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/02/06/255E2EEA00000578-2941216-The_roof_of_Fisht_Stadium_has_been_partially_disassembled_costin-a-9_1423222577388.jpg[/t][t]http://static4.businessinsider.com/image/53f73762ecad043c3bdb5832-1200-800/sochi-mountain-cluster-ghost-city-2014-olympics-15.jpg[/t]
Will this end up like the Russian olympics? Sounds like some shit North Korea would do, or the hauntingly empty ghost cities in China...

Considering that many of the stadiums built for the World Cup were once offs in Brazil and wouldn't be used by their home teams... I don't have hopes that the village will last at all. I feel sorry for both the athletes and the people of Brazil - athletes for the conditions they'll be in, and the people of Brazil for paying the bill for infrastructure they'll never get to use, and not for improving their lives.
Those buildings rot like this because they are really expensive and no one wants to buy them. Even now, 2 years after olympics, it's cheaper to go to vacation in Thailand than Sochi.

Shit's far from "rotting", it's actually a decent-ish resort. Everything that was used during the Olympics has been reconstructed to fit, some stuff is still under renovation ('cause most of it can only be in use during winter holidays). Except for "European" Olympic village buildings themselves, that's sort of like museums you can freely walk around now. Might want to check your info on that stuff. Then again, it's not like building an infrastructure specifically for Olympics is not common practice anyway.
Those buildings rot like this because they are really expensive and no one wants to buy them.
Nah this year has been shitty. The 90s were great, to put it in perspective the greatest fear of the 90s was killer bees
Unless you lived in a former Russian state like Chechnya; they kinda had tons of shit to worry about. Africa didn't do so hot in places either. Iraq also got bombed to shit and was then left to rebuild its shattered infrastructure by itself under Saddam. But, yeah, if you're from an affluent western nation, the 90s were pretty peachy. But this is getting pretty far off topic from the Rio Olympic venues falling apart before the opening ceremonies.
