Just an FYI - I know NBC already reported about this, stating that the by the 24th, Bradley Manning will officially be named "Chelsea Manning."
So mainstream media is willing to take it seriously, to an extent (NBC's specific report was a little odd in some places, language-wise).

The occasional slip is to be expected, honestly. At least they're trying.

once you get accustomed to referring to someone by a name/pronoun, it's understandable to take a bit to adjust to new ones
I knew Manning was a puff the moment I saw a photo of it.
If I insulted anyone with my comment I'm sorry. If someone wants to broaden my horizon and tell me exactly why I am wrong please do.
it's just that you're being an asshole for no reason by saying something that really doesn't need to be said. it's like going up to someone on the street and saying "HEY JUST A REMINDER BUT YOUR DREAMS AND IDEALS ARE COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT IN MY BOOK," it's just pointlessly mean and cruel

Especially when they still look like a dude.
Saw this reported in the Guardian and they used female pronouns throughout.
Although considering the prior relationship between Chelsea and the Guardian that's hardly surprising.

the grauniad are usually good about stuff like this
As long he has a dick he is a man in my book.
Why are you writing a book about people's dicks?
gender and sex are different things, the former is in your brain and the latter is your reproductive organ. Since your identity or rather who you are is in your brain, it's a bit of a no brainer to understand that it's up to each and everyone to figure out who they are. that's why it would be rude to call someone differently than how they identify
Plus people who clearly understand their gender are often discriminated against if they don't fit into the social norm for gender roles - i.e. a transgender person.
As for Niklas, it's okay if you don't know about transgender identity though and it's understandable if you have a hard time seeing him as a woman. When one of my friends came out to me, I still referred to them by the wrong pronoun for awhile.
Especially when they still look like a dude.
Why the dumbs? I think it's a fair point, it may take some time to people adjust to the correct pronoun, and that transition is even harder when, until recently, anyone who looks like a dude was a "he". It's good people are acknowledging and making effort to respect others though, it just may take a while to be common.
on the bright side, she has pretty eyes.
I've been saying this and this has been known since nearly the start of the whole predicament. Hell the reason Chelsea even reached out to Adrian Lamo about the documents is because of intense depression, stress, and a need for friends all stemming from having to be a big, tough, manly army man.
Zianna Jones(A trans athiest/feminist youtuber) was also another person that Chelsea reached out to. and was one of the people to "reveal" Chelsea's trans state in the first place. And this was like 2 years ago.
How the fuck was this kept quiet of people on the internet knew about this 2 years ago?
It's a story the press can't help but milk.

Also I can't wait for this to air on TV somewhere and hear all the people around me going "Wow that traitor is a tranny too!! gross trannies should die!!!!!"

I hate where I live.
IIRC She use to identify as gender fluid; that's pretty interesting.
What the fuck does that even mean?
You seem to be unfamiliar with the modern concepts being played out here, feel free to not shitpost in future.
"your opinion is different so you're shitposting"
What the fuck does that even mean?
Someone who fluidly switchs between feeling male, female, both, or neither.
"your opinion is different so you're shitposting"
It's a little more like "your opinion is objectively and factually wrong and you're starting an argument with it. stop shitposting."
it's just that you're being an asshole for no reason by saying something that really doesn't need to be said. it's like going up to someone on the street and saying "HEY JUST A REMINDER BUT YOUR DREAMS AND IDEALS ARE COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT IN MY BOOK," it's just pointlessly mean and cruel
He wasn't like that at all, what are you on about?
Sure it wasn't supporting but he wasn't bashing the guy either, and he wasn't bashing anyone else.
Not to mention this is a forum after all, where opinions conflict.

And seeing as this is a forum, they're allowed to call him out on his opinion.
And seeing as this is a forum, they're allowed to call him out on his opinion.
then why not do so in a more rational argument other than calling him an asshole or using examples that are wildly exaggerating.
then why not do so in a more rational argument other than calling him an asshole or using examples that are wildly exaggerating.
Because there are some opinions that simply aren't worth respecting, be it because of the opinion at its core or because of the way the person presents it.

I just cannot... wow.
Except the fact that it's a theory.
