women, specifically poor, minority women, are going to be getting abortions no matter the legality. earlier attempts to outlaw abortion didn't actually really stymie the abortion rate that much. what it did do, however, is increase the rate of medical complications related to abortion since people were getting "back-alley" abortions. i mean whatever your opinions on abortion may be, you have to admit it is much more humane for both the fetus and the woman to have the abortion done by a trained, ethical doctor with proper equipment.
as this thread is about abortion i thought of something funny the other day. so roe vs wade affirms a woman's sovereignty over her body correct and as such she is solely the one to determine what happens to her body legally. what if the fetus is female, doesn't said female fetus also have sovereignty over its body? i'm not an anti-abortion person but i thought it was funny to think about.
