Other then the corruption and the baby boomers trying to limit rights and the financial crisis its actually decent in living standards. Oh and the income gap.
Yeah, but we don't live in fear of a global thermonuclear war, government is much more transparent, and when it's not, it's forced to be. The financial crisis is bad, but it's certainly not the worst thing to ever happen. Communism fell, the US is the sole superpower... and so on.

What do moderate Republicans disagree about with hardline Republicans and what makes them different from Democrats?
[editline]27th April 2011[/editline]
Communism fell
I wouldn't call that an aspect of the "world being a better place". Sure it was good that the puppet states of the Soviet Union were free, but I wouldn't describe that as the fall of Communism, merely the fall of the USSR. Americans for the most part are just as afraid of Communism as they were in the 50s, just there are more people willing to accept it as a legitimate ideology, and things that were done during McCarthy's time aren't okay anymore.

Not always the same things, but usually social issues like prayer in schools, gay rights, abortion, etc.

So people who believe in Trickle-down economics but are socially liberal?

I'm sick of seeing all these threads antagonizing Republicans. It's getting too excessive.

When there stops being good reason to criticize Republicans, we'll stop.
Besides, this thread antagonizes the extremist republicans, the ignorant, bigoted, deluded religious fuckwits who make their party so infamous. If you're objecting to our criticism of that demographic, you need to see a shrink.

boo fucking hoo, Republicans have gotten worse and are continuing to get worse. Improve your party before whining about people criticising them.

Ending the Assault Weapons Ban, the recent 38.5 Billion Budget cut, various tax cuts..
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban
Yes, because people need assault weapons.
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban, the recent 38.5 Billion Budget cut, various tax cuts..
Again, name ONE good thing the Republicans have done in the last 10 years.
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban, the recent 38.5 Billion Budget cut, various tax cuts..
The first one I'll agree is acceptable, but you do realize that the reason they have to cut that in the first place is because of a Republican administration? That's like if I crashed someone's car, paid for the damages, and then got pissed because the guy who's car I crashed wasn't grateful for it. And how are the bush tax cuts a good thing? How is cutting taxes during an economic recession anywhere near good? Don't tell me you actually believe in Trickle-down economics.
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban
Wait. We said GOOD things.
Wait. We said GOOD things.
I'm not going to fault him on that, given that a negligible amount of gun crime is committed with legally acquired guns, and that I'm socially Liberal.
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban, the recent 38.5 Billion Budget cut, various tax cuts..
1. The Assault Weapons allowed for people, I am not sure thats good, who needs an Assault Rifle anyway? But this is debatable.
2. How much of that was on defense spending? And how much of the cut was directed towards education?
3. Yes, during a recession and starting a war, cutting taxes is a very good idea. [sp]/sarcasm[/sp]
The new republicans seem hell-bent on making sure the President and Democrats fail, and then they will gloat about it. Hell, once, the Dems made a bill that seemed very pro-Republican, voted no, then before the voting ended, voted present. Half of the Repubs(or a lot) voted against the bill after the Democrats changed their vote. I think that proves that they want to vote against the Democrats on basically everything.
Ending the Assault Weapons Ban, the recent 38.5 Billion Budget cut, various tax cuts..
I'm all for guns, but no one needs an "assault weapon" and it's inane to think they do. The budget cut wasn't that good and didn't cut defense at all really, tax cuts to the rich aren't a good thing.
Again, name ONE good thing the Republicans have done in the last 10 years.
Took control of congress, and kept the Democrat's balls in a safe.

The assault weapons ban was ridiculous, and horribly inconsistent. A small 22 would be called an assault weapon, while a 20mm rifle wouldn't. This is an exaggeration, but it still carries the point.
Damn commies killed them all.
Took control of congress, and kept the Democrat's balls in a safe.
Neither of these things are good, and have nothing to do with policy-making. Republicans have no control over how courageous Democrats are. They decide that on their own.

Does that kind of mindless ranting really make you any better than fox news or the far right? The subjectivity here is killing me.

He has a point. While perhaps a bit antagonistic in the eyes of moderates, he does have a point.

At the cost of the poor and middle class.
Believe it or not, Republicans were once relatively liberal, while Democrats were once relatively conservative.
Then Grant came and ruined everything by sitting on his drunken ass while his party got overrun with corruption.
Worst president ever.

You're entitled to your opinion as long as it doesn't become law. Like Megafanx13 said "a negligible amount of gun crime is committed with legally acquired guns", an even smaller number can be attributed to larger weapons. Very, very small number.
To everyone who says the Republicans have done good, so did every horrible political party through history. The positives should far outweigh the negative.
At this point i can't think of anything. There are other political parties.

Oh I doubt people will go around killing others with assault rifles if they own them. I just don't see a reason for them. If it takes a lot of red tape and background checks, then fine with me.
