I think he's suggesting you presented a false dilemma. Since you seemed to have suggested that if he doesn't agree with the system, he should leave, I'd be inclined to agree.
let me put it this way. in this day and age you cannot find a place to live without either government assistance or using the banking system.
it is an inherently coercive institution and coercion is immoral.
Banking is defined as,
a financial institution and a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into lending activities, either directly by loaning or indirectly through capital markets.
Therefor, if I take deposits from one friend and loan them with interest to another who has no incentive to pay it back, other than being my friend, that would be banking. Would it also be immoral?
Furthermore, banks run off of investments. If they lose money, they'll have to print more. The side effects of this harm everyone, including the poor, regardless of whether they're being coerced into using it. Durán might just be making a bad problem worse.

Uh sorry but what? Most banks have utterly no impact at money that goes into print and money isn't printed in general when banks are at a loss.
There's a lot of reasons why CBs issue new money and why not.
I wish I could find freedom from banking evils, but it appears I was born far too late.
Banking is a necessary "evil" (if you're willing to call it that) because without banks, people who need money wouldn't be able to get it and people who don't need money will hoard it to make large investments. A good banking system lets money flow where it's needed and creates a more dynamic economy.
Even the Romans knew how important a good banking system is and they lived 2000 years ago. Odds are, it isn't a bad system if it's survived for 2000 years.

All criticisms of banks are made by people who are of the following:
1: Don't know how they work (alex jones).
2: If they do, they put ideology as more important (communists).
3: Legitimate criticisms aimed at how to improve banking systems (mainstream economists).
