Like George Carlin put it: If you're pre-born, you're fine. If you're preschool, you're fucked.
"until you reach military age, then you're just what they were looking for"
Every time I come to the Sensationalist thread, I keep finding reasons to move to Canada. Zeke, will you shack me up while I look for a reasonably priced apartment?
I got first dibs already.
"Life begins at conception", you say? I'm pretty sure life began a few billion years ago. An egg and a sperm are less of a person than a cockroach. Cockroaches can actually, you know, feel pain. What about Bonobos? If an tiny clump of cells in a vagina has rights, why not a self-aware, smart, peaceful chimpanzee that feels all the same emotions humans do?
Fuck south in general, just bunch of improperly educated rednecks.
That hurts my feelings. :c [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
"Life begins at conception", you say? These theocratic retards are really going to ban birth control? Seriously, can we force the South to secede from the union again? We don't need these ignorant fundamentalists dragging us back into the Dark Ages.
so how many cells are in and egg, and how many cells are in the brain alone?
In Mississippi's law makers, exactly the same.
These theocratic retards are really going to ban birth control? Seriously, can we force the South to secede from the union again? We don't need these ignorant fundamentalists dragging us back into the Dark Ages.
Just Mississippi and Alabama.
Fuck south in general, just bunch of improperly educated rednecks.
Not everyone is a fucking redneck down here you know.
So are we going to go from Birthdays to Conception Days? And if the infant dies in birth, is it a murder?
I believe that life starts at conception, but overall, it should be the choice of the mother and what she sees as best for herself and the child, whether or not she feels morally obligated.
Not everyone is a fucking redneck down here you know.
What else are we supposed to think when you people elect shitheads that introduce legislation like this?
What else are we supposed to think when you people elect shitheads that introduce legislation like this?
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1137940 The same thing we think when "you people" elect shitheads like that. Idiocy is not limited to geography.
I believe that life starts at conception, but..
but a writhing mass of undeveloped embryonic cells is not alive/aware in any practical sense as far as a human being goes, drop the technicalities
What else are we supposed to think when you people elect shitheads that introduce legislation like this?
There is no you people, when your 1 against 100 not much is going to go in your favor.
If we kicked Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia out of the US, I'm pretty sure the rest of the country would benefit greatly.
I'm never serious about it, but I always joke that we should have just left the Confederation secede during the civil war. They get their own nation and we get a higher national IQ.
I live in Mississippi, and I've seen these "Vote YES on 26" signs everywhere. I take every chance to tell anyone who supports it how retarded this initiative actually is, hopefully swaying their vote. We're not all inbred, uneducated rednecks, by the way. I find it a bit insulting that people would generalize like that. However, as a Mississippian, I can safely say: fuck Mississippi.
If the fertilized egg wants to be seen as a person it should come forward and tell them like any normal person.
These theocratic retards are really going to ban birth control? Seriously, can we force the South to secede from the union again? We don't need these ignorant fundamentalists dragging us back into the Dark Ages.
Just because there's an initiative for an something stupid like this does not automatically make an entire region of your country completely, unwaveringly for it. Most people down here are actually against it.
1 Egg, 1 cell, completely human. Well that's 'merica for you
You're pretty stupid for not knowing how stupid Mississippi is and assuming it's the image of the US.
image macro etc.
The only one here that I disagree with is the chicken yolk. The thing in that picture will never be a chicken, no matter what you do to it or how long you wait. It is the inside of an unfertilizable chicken egg and it always will be. Well at least until its cooked over easy and put on toast with bacon and a side of OJ, but then its breakfast.
Well its not going to last long. I'm personally against abortion, but they still have their right to choose. Like the article said, this is just going to strengthen Roe vs Wade.
They vote on this next Tuesday. Considering the ultra-conservative politics of the deep South it'll likely pass. It'll then be declared unconstitutional by a Supreme Court Judge Wednesday morning due to flying in the face of Roe V. Wade.
fyi the general consensus here in MS is that this won't pass.
I believe that life starts at conception, but overall, it should be the choice of the mother and what she sees as best for herself and the child, whether or not she feels morally obligated.
But life starts before conception. Each egg and sperm cell is alive.
Good job Mississippi, states like you hurt the image of the U.S.
The proposition was voted out today. I told you guys Mississippi could be reasonable.
CNN projects Mississippi voters reject amendment to the state constitution that defined life as beginning at conception. THERE IS A GOD!
Congratulations MS, continue the south's proud tradition of theocratic stupidity.
Congratulations StealthArcher, continue FP's proud tradition of being culturally ignorant and stereotyping countries you don't live in or know anything about.
I wonder how it would have affected women who are raped. Would an exception be made for them or would their entire free life be restrained because of the criminal actions of one man?
Congratulations StealthArcher, continue FP's proud tradition of being culturally ignorant and stereotyping countries you don't live in or know anything about.
The south isn't a country... yet.
