Your view that the war is destructive and useless is a PERSONAL OPINION. I cannot tell you that your opinion is wrong because it is an opinion, and by nature can never be incorrect. For the absolute last time, I joined to be a part of something larger than myself, to fulfill my sense of duty, to participate in what [U]I believe[/U] to be a great organization, along with the added bonus of me being able to fulfill my life goal of joining the military and becoming a helicopter pilot. I morally believe that I can help people by doing what I do.
As for your latter statement, if you honestly believe that is how the military works, then you are flat wrong. You know what happened in my case? "Hey Skeen, I see that you are enlisting in the Army as a 15S OH-58D helicopter repairer. If you promise to do this job, as well as obeying UCMJ and those appointed above you for six years, then we will pay you two times a month and give you health benefits, housing, etc. Are you sure that you are OK with joining? If you are, sign here, swear the oath of enlistment, and fulfill your end of the bargain and we will do the same with you." You know what I am going to be asked to do on deployment? My job, which is to repair the OH-58D helicopter, and not blow up houses. People with my MOS generally don't fire their weapon once during a deployment. This is the final comment from me in this thread. PFC Skeen, signing off.
