So did it make the nuggets extra crunchy, and not gross and gritty? Because if it worked, I wouldn't be fundamentally opposed to it, just sayin'.
Never ate them myself, this was second hand information. Also the KFC in question was in another part of our state.
I once found a grasshopper head in my food here in Sweden. It was noodles from China :v:
Im not even sure why i read this thread before I was about to eat some food :I
I once found a piece of steel wire (a non-flexible one) in some generic Asia-origin cookie kinda thing. Granted, it's not gross, but it can be very dangerous.
okay, first of all, you can't generalise like that for the most part, anything in the more urbanised areas of china is perfectly fine. there's enough western influence and visitors that anything like this happening would definitely make news of course, as you move further away from the city centres, things get cheaper and lower quality my cousin lives in beijing and is so far away from the city centre it feels like he's living in a fucking shanty town sometimes. on the whole, there are places where shit like this happens but if you do visit china, chances are you're going to go on the tourist route and probably won't encounter any of this. there's a reason for that.
Isn't Guangzhou one of the more populous and industrialized areas of China?
Here's my own story; in college I knew a guy who's uncle owned a KFC joint here. Apparently one of his 'management policies' was to grind chicken bones into a powder and add them to the coating so that the chicken would be crunchier. Ever since then I feel queasy whenever I pass by a KFC outlet.
Your KFCs actually batter the chicken in the restaurant? Pretty sure that shit here is just pre-made and frozen. Also IIRC there's ground bone inside chicken mcnuggets and stuff like that so it's not like it's anything new :v:
I don't know about you guys but I like homemade food better than fast food (although I do like the poutine and burgers from our local restaurant.)
you probably eat ground up bones all the time and don't even realize it. For instance, gelatin is made of bone meal jello, gummy bears, marsh mellows, skittles............
I was already aware most gelatine products contain some portion of bonemeal, but skittles? What part of skittles uses bone meal?
This reminds me of the smelly foot rice crisis from a while back.
Isn't Guangzhou one of the more populous and industrialized areas of China?
i lived there for a while, it is extremely populated and industrialized but they still have a long way to go with a lot of things like health standards and human rights.
I got a brain in a piece of KFC chicken while I was in the netherlands.
provide proof.
provide proof.
Well there's a picture floating around of a fried chicken head somebody found in a chicken wing meal that they got from McDonalds, so I guess somebody finding a fried chicken brain isn't too far out of an idea. Found it:
My siblings once opened a box of Kraft mac and cheese to find it full of tiny dead bugs. Wouldn't have been that much better off eating it without the bugs tbh.
How often does this stuff happen? I read all these Chinese food horror stories, yet I've never experienced it myself after living in China for a few years.

I'm probably sterotyping them, but look at how often news of terrible health standards pop up in China, to countries within the region?
To think that in Russia a revolt was started by this...
Ground up bone is not that unhealthy really, excellent source of calcium. Finding white maggots in the piece you're already eating is just horror story grade material.
To be honest, considering it was a couple of hours apart, those probably weren't even hatched yet when she was eating it in the KFC.
