I wonder how long this fiasco regarding SimCity and offline mode is gonna go? Of course, I bet EA is gonna drag this out similar to Plumbers Don't Wear Ties with the narrators (Velma & Harry) "fighting" over the microphone Speaking of Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, I also bet EA went with online DRM when they looked back at their hated 3DO. It didn't have any kind of lockout, so you could pirate 3DO games at anytime if you had a CD burner and Internet. What did it lead to? The 3DO was murdered by crappy games, system flaws, and finally being dominated by more popular consoles like the PlayStation (EA lost a lot of money when they failed so hard back then)
uh the 3DO was made by fucking Panasonic what the fuck are you on about [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] besides why are we even talking about this
now they're toys for manchildren
as a fully mature adult the only 'game' i am interested in now is microsoft office what are video games?? arent they for babies? ha ha ha
uh the 3DO was made by fucking Panasonic what the fuck are you on about [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] besides why are we even talking about this
Trip Hawkins (original founder of Electronic Arts) paid money to Panasonic and other companies to make the videogame console for them, but because of hardware companies charging high amounts of money and the different models having different hardware specs (the GoldStar sucks, get an FZ-10 instead), the 3DO didn't get many good games and eventually lead to the 3DO Company only making videogames as third-party today I am telling you this because I want you to know about EA's past, most notably their mistakes in videogames and the making of them. John Riccitiello's mistake with NFS Prostreet & Undercover (The latter with an actress who'd been in another film), Dante's Inferno (Sin to Win and Sexism), Dead Space 2 (Ageism) and even the re-boot of Medal of Honor. I got the information from both Wikipedia (Need for Speed) and Extra Credits (Dante's Inferno, Dead Space 2, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter)
Every company makes mistakes dude, they learn from them, then you can make shittier mistakes afterwards but you learn from them I'm confident EA knows the outrage they've caused by this disastrous launch and maybe they won't have always-on DRM again (do not fucking hold me to it)

HURRICANE NECKBEARD OH FUCK But in all seriousness, I really, -really- doubt EA is going to pull shit as dumb as this ever again, due to the MASSIVE backlash it generated. And to be perfectly honest, like some others have posted, when you get past the shitty always-online DRM, it is legitimately a relaxing and enjoyable game.
I get it, Braintoaster (your avatar). I disagree that EA would ever regret their mistakes, they prefer quantity over quality (Sell a buggy game that was lazily made, E-mail "Stfu" to complainers) Download -snip- collection of SNES Roms & emulator and try out Wizard of Oz, I know you'll hate it as much as I hate the jumping and the attacks. May God forbid it if Nintendo let EA put either or both Dark Castle AND Wizard of Oz on Virtual Console! I've played Need for Speed World which was impressive when it was first made, but now people complain that there are so many bugs, glitches and intentional fake difficulties just to force people into Paying 2 Win, along with no Anti-Cheat to ensure that nobody gets unfair advantages and remove "fun". I heard a joke saying that EA and QuickLime don't want to ban cheaters because that means they'd lose people who pay money for doing so! Also, On topic, Simcity is a great game which was badly planned, I'm sure all this trouble wouldn't be around if EA/Maxis had servers ready.
I know we are getting a little offhand here but just wondering, Isn't it still piracy when he (BenjaminTennison)'s linking to games made in the early 90's for download?
It is, but I don't feel bad about downloading games that are of the following reasons; *Not sold anymore (That's why we have sites such as GoodOld Games for classic DOS games) *You either don't have or don't want to use your credit card (if you have one) for the physical products on Ebay or Amazon *It's a game (Ex. EarthBound/MOTHER2) not available in your continent (I live in Europe, and EarthBound/MOTHER2 was never released here! Good news is, we might see MOTHER 2 on Wii U in Europe soon). Plus, if you're asking; Yes, that collection of SNES ROMs includes SimCity, with Dr. Wright!
