• Trump's lawyers want him to refuse Mueller's interview request

The problem with 'I can't recall' is if the prosecutors can prove that you can and did recall then you're definitely being hostile. If you're being hostile to the prosecution you better be ready to answer even more loaded and sharp questioning - because you're giving them permission to by being hostile. The last thing Trump should want is someone being given permission to make him angry. Of course, he feels he has 'the best brain' so I doubt he feels that's even a possibility. Probably thinks he's just going to go walk in with a smile, sit down on the stand, say 'Whatever you say, I do not recall or executive privilege' into the mic and smugly lean back in his chair, arms folded, thinking he's 'won'. (Note: He can't use Executive Privilege in those proceedings because the Special Counsel is effectively part of the Executive and thus can immediately appeal that his privilege be rescinded to get at the truth of the matter)
Trump's 12D game here is to incriminate himself so many times that he crashes Mueller's computer system and destroys the probe from within
"You can't be under investigation if you've blabbed about all of the stuff they're trying to investigate!"
Lie detector pings, as Donald Trump clearly can't read.
While this is a pretty funny viewpoint... Imagine the fucking horror if Mueller discovered in his criminal investigation into Trump and Friends©™ that Trump truly could not read. The President. Illiterate. Dear Lord have mercy.

I really am curious to see how it would go down without his lawyers helping him, he doesn't seem like someone who takes well to being pressured and outright called out. That's something I really wished happened more often during the election, whenever he does a "I never said that" someone goes"you actually did right here" with his own Twitter posts or video evidence

"What did you mean, Mr. Trump?" "You have your opinions, I have mine." "Answer the question, Mr. Trump." "I did." "... permission to treat the witness as hostile. Again."
Let's face it, the guy is probably too much of a coward to agree to it anyway. He couldn't even face "Crazy Bernie" Sanders in a debate because he knew Sanders would tear him to shreds. Realistically, the only way we'll get an interview is if Mueller puts some sort of yet-unknown legal pressure on him and makes any alternatives even more hazardous for Trump than the interview already is. I mean, there's no way Trump would be stpuid enough to just blindly agree to this, right? Right?
I think Mueller can easily make his case with or without Trump's cooperation. If he refuses to be interviewed, the President's public statements can be considered evidence.
