Restarted Steam a few times and it still has a purchase button instead of an install. Wouldn't put it beyond EA to make people purchase Beta access I guess, but from the news posting I thought it'd be a bit more... Open.
It would have been great if the character customization was far greater. It's as if they were so afraid of the inevitable male phallus.
Dammit, I wanted to make a giant penis creature with guns attached to play as. That's all I did in the original Spore.

I played in the closed beta a while back. It was pretty fun. Basically Diablo with some character creation.
Protip: Pretend that the title isn't Darkspore because it has nothing to do with Spore. I really don't know why they called it that other than to bring in people who liked Spore.
The game is pretty fun. A lot of heroes to choose from. Kinda repetitive though.
Fun with friends for sure.
