Don't underestimate the media and diseases or flu's . Just look at Madcow disease. How many people have actually caught that? 3? Go look it up, No one in the USA has died from the Mad Cow Disease ... whoever it is that rated me dumb, and only ONE cow has ever been confirmed to have Mad Cow Disease in the United States, So I was off by two, god
Not quite Worldwide, the Seasonal Flu kills 250,000-500,000 a Year
Wow, never knew that. I mean http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic says it's 7400 deaths worldwide.. And the seasonal flu kills * 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; * more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and * about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes. taken from http://www.cdc.gov/Flu/keyfacts.htm So let's say 40,000 a year on average. Swine flu isn't yet as severe as the seasonal flu, but it could become so without much of a problem. I don't know if my sources are right or not, if they aren't, rate me dumb and correct me please :D
Don't underestimate the media and diseases or flu's . Just look at Madcow disease. How many people have actually caught that? 3?
3? The infallible source of wiki shows 200+ died, but the amount of Humans killed isn't of significance there, it's that the UK relies on cows for quite a lot of things thus having 460k+ cows infected with a disease fatal to us isn't a good thing. Why do people keep downplaying viruses all the time? This news is significant as the virus in this region has already evolved to withstand our vaccines and as we have no natural immunities to this virus it could get very bad, it's not like the virus has gone away as it's killed 663(8%!) people in the last week according to wiki.
I've already had the flu, it's nothing really. Just stay in bed for some days and you will be fine.
I'm allergic to Tamiflu. Started using it and I broke out in rashes everywhere.
I'm allergic to Tamiflu. Started using it and I broke out in rashes everywhere.
The only downside to Tamiflu are the side effects. Stomach cramps and nausea :(
Anyone who thinks Swine Flu isn't a serious threat doesn't know history very well. Hint: Spanish Flu - 1918.
Oh my Gods! A flu that isn't even nearly as bad as the seasonal variant(which isn't generally treated with Tamiflu as a rule) is now resistant to a drug which didn't even make that much of a difference! We're all dead! :bees: On a less hilarious note, this isn't really that big of a deal IMO, but it could make treatment for high risk patients a little more difficult. However, this does beg the question about future variants of H1N1 which might evolve even more resistances. Coupled with a higher severity of symptoms, then we could have problems, but for now, this is a slight inconvenience. Article is here.
Kill all sons of bitches, because I see a Left 4 Dead 3 coming out, in a city near you! Anyway, the fucking British should've known tea reacts with TamiFlu to produce colorful genetic fireworks in the swineflu strain! Those fuckers! :irony:
It's like antibiotics, people use it when they really don't need to and the virus/ bacteria become immune.
Drug resistance is a really, really bad thing to shrug off - the resistance to drugs can be passed even between different viruses/bacteria.
Do I smell Resident Evil 6?
