A man has done 21 years on a life without parole sentence for non-violent marijuana charges

The "three strikes" law in question is specifically for pot. He was sentenced using Missouri's "persistent drug offenders" statutes, which upscale the penalties specifically for drug offenses. By way of this, Jeff Mizanskey was charged with a stronger penalty in a sting than someone else busted for the same crime in the same sting. 10 years versus life without parole, entirely because he sold once to a cop and got hit for possession once.
Jeff's sentence is also unreasonable when compared to the sentence of 10 years that was imposed on his co-defendant who actually purchased and possessed the package of marijuana and the informants who had been caught the day before Jeff's arrest transporting approximately 84 pounds of marijuana and were apparently not even charged at all. Furthermore, Jeff reports that he sees hard core drug addicts, rapists, and murderers paroled out of his maximum security prison all the time. It defies common sense that Jeff is not even afforded the opportunity to be considered for parole.
This is why I'm moving to Seattle... This is fucking ridiculous. 3-7 years, sure, that makes a LITTLE sense (considering the weigh in with the 3 strikes law) but life without parole over a god damn PLANT? Excessive overkill.
Fuck this gay Earth.
"I'm in for life for brutally murdering my wife with a hammer, you?"
"Hit the blunt"
"Oh, you mean you hit someone with a blunt object?"
"No, I mean I smoked a doobie."
This doesn't change anything. 3 strikes laws are just as stupid as a man being imprisoned for life because of marijuana. There's a reason why progressive states already got rid of them or are in the process of getting rid of them.
Our entire judicial system is just completely fucked. Everything from the ridiculous laws that get people imprisoned to the horrible prisons themselves.
It was felony charges. While possession of pot, even if it's illegal, shouldn't be a felony IMO, it is what it is.
25 years ago, it was legal for police to shoot felons if they ran. In the back if they wanted, in some states. Usually felonies are pretty bad crimes, and if you commit 3 then you should be locked up for 25 years.
Pot possession, unless it's a fucking van load, shouldn't be a felony
Unless his title is some sort of joke, I would suggest you look it up. It's like a small glimpse into his mind, ifitisntajoke.
If it isn't a joke then he's a huge cunt.

It's not a joke, check his visitor messages, although I'm not here to incite unnecessary hatred against people, that's more Lium's racket so I'll get back on topic
What shocks me most is that he was given no parole? I mean don't murderers often get parole in the states?
3 strike law or not. The lawmaker that tought this law up, and the judge that sentenced him should have figured that this would be a bad idea.
Time is the biggest currency
It could be that he was such a evasive and skillful criminal that this marijuana charge was the only thing the cops could get to stick. Because you know.. circumstantial technicalities.
"Oh, you mean you hit someone with a blunt object?"
"No, I mean I smoked a doobie."
"What ethnic group is a doobie?"
"I smoked marijuana you fuck."
Should we also lessen the sentences of nonviolent DWI offenders too? I mean a progressive 3 strike type system is shit right? So we should have every sentence for a crime the same no matter which offense it is right?
He's not serving that harsh of a sentence because of pot. He's serving that sentence because he repeatedly broke the same laws. There is a big difference between the two. He made this decision himself.
Why? Legitimate question, why do you think weed should stay illegal?
He must think it makes blacks and mexicans crazy and rape white women just like that movie Reefer Madness taught him
problem is when shit like this gets big publicity they know if they actually do let him out he's probably going to turn around and sue for the excess time spent, so its easier from a PR standpoint to leave him there, even though morally letting him out would be the right thing to do
Life sentence for possession of a fucking PLANT. This is beyond stupid, and a waste of prison space that could be used for real criminals, y'know..like murderers and rapists?

This is why people are phrasing it to make it sound like this is over pot. "21 years in prison for pot!"= outrage. "21 years in prison for being a habitual offender"= the public saying "meh, let him rot".
