why do people find it necessary to add "in my community" or anything remotely similar?
Because they might actually know some of the people involved?
I thought it was common sense to not fucking text while driving. It's the driver's fault for losing control, my condolences to the family of those who were killed
At the local private school, and this is just a stupid story overall, no purpose for the topic, there was some kid with a lotus (unsure what kind, irrelevant) who totalled it by driving like an ass, and his parents just up and bought him a new one.
Facebook page?
Think its ethical to post his facebook?
What a scumbag. Put him away for a good while. He needs to see the consequences for such stupid actions. Although he seems like the type to lie and say he was in jail for icing some fools, not driving like an absolute dumbass. He ruined his own life, the lives of the wife and daughter, and ended a father and daughter's. What a waste.
oh my god...
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m., when the father and his two daughters, all wearing helmets, were on a regular family outing -- riding bicycles along a Treat Boulevard sidewalk, Broschard said. At that same time, Rosen, who was driving west on Treat Boulevard, swerved to avoid a car in front of him as he sped through an intersection and lost control of the white 2002 Cadillac Escalade, authorities and witnesses said. The vehicle struck the bicyclists, sheared off a fire hydrant and careened into the brick facade of a single-story office building next to a fire station, authorities said.

Parents with alot of cash that think their sweet little prince of a son is a good boy. Here in Portugal, the sooner you can start getting your license is half a year before turning 18 (age 17 and a half), and even if you finish classes and pass on the cross exam, you have to wait till youre 18 to start taking the actual driving lessons.
Around here, you can drive with another person at 16, and then alone once you've driven enough and passed driving tests, but you have restrictions on how powerful the car can be, how many people can be in the car, demerit points, speed, alcohol level, etc.

Scum of the fucking earth.

Fuck him for all he's worth
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m., when the father and his two daughters, all wearing helmets, were on a regular family outing -- riding bicycles along a Treat Boulevard sidewalk, Broschard said. Stuck to phones/whatever they can get their hands on when they're in a fucking vehicle that can -kill people-, including themselves.

Shit like this happens when people are complete and utter retards on the road. Almost sounds like a troll. How can someone be that much of an idiot? Maybe they think it was somehow the victims fault or something, you'd have to be a complete idiot to be this ignorant. I almost feel like finding his facebook and sending him a hate letter + flying to his place and kicking his shit. I know that might sound a bit moronic or whatever bad anyone might think, but come on. How are pieces of shit like this with all the money in the world and a good as fuck life let loose on the road? And to think he still has people defending him... Seriously, I'd rather no one fucking defended me in this situation. Hell, I wouldn't even care about it because I'd be traumatised. But then again, I wouldn't be a fucking prick on the road either, so that doesn't applies to me.
In California, not sure about the rest of the USA, 15 and a half year olds are capable of getting their permit, where they can drive with their parent or anyone over 25, and if they do that as soon as possible, can drive alone by the age of 16 I believe.
I personally don't think the age that you start driving matters a great deal, it has a lot to do with your character and personality too. There are irresponsible assholes in the world whether they are 16 or 27 and they are not about to dissapear. Not challenging your post, just using it as a springboard :P
somebody should honestly post this on 4chan, they'd have a fucking field day over this.

I love how the bloke at the bottom of the facebook argument put a hash tag on, fucking clueless cunt Oh, and was it his car? How can a 17 year old be allowed to drive a 2 ton SUV?!

[editline]8th April 2012[/editline] Okay holy shit I don't even care about censoring this guy's name:

I expect the next comment from him will be something along the lines of "You mad?"
I can't see why people are defending him on facebook, just making themselves look even more idiotic. Gotta love rich kids and their phones. Anyways I hope the families of the victims are okay by now.

Either that, or their insurance costs should be ridiculous, just like in the UK.
WHAT THE FUCK
That's just plain fucked up.

This type of drivers should not be allowed to drive on the road ever
I know this is probably a bad way to react to this kind of shit, but I felt the need to post this all on reddit (why reddit? good question), if anyone wants, they can upvote it to teach this fucker a lesson in respect.
