TOR would've been a lot better if it had been singleplayer with different scaling to compensate for the fact that you wouldn't have people to group with. With the mechanics it had it just didn't make a good MMO.
A singleplayer game with MMO combat sounds like the stuff of nightmares.
Their main competitor series to Call of Duty, Battlefield and Medal of Honor, are expected to cost $10 more in the future.
myth busted. the picture that showed MOH selling for $69.99 was a typo that left out "special edition"
And games back in the NES/ SNES/ early PS era could reach £80 easily. What's you point? Game prices fluctuate quite violently. Games have always been pretty expensive compared to say, the average income of the time. 2 years ago we were still undergoing economic problems, that $50 was a lot back then as $60 is a fair amount of money today.
Games cost £70 pounds in the NES/SNES days because it cost a shitload to make cartidges. CDs/DVDs are cheap as shit to make. Also, last time I checked we were still undergoing economic problems now.
A singleplayer game with MMO combat sounds like the stuff of nightmares.
Dragon Age: Origins was mostly that and seemed to be well received.
A singleplayer game with MMO combat sounds like the stuff of nightmares.
That was pretty much the case in Star Wars Knights of the old republic.
$70 is a half of the minimal wage here in Russia.
That doesn't justify treating one's workers like shit. There's only so much they can take, and honestly if I worked for EA right about now I'd already be looking for somewhere else to go, assuming I didn't have it lined up already.
I was not trying to justify treating their workers like shit, I was explaining why they aren't quitting :) Reading helps.
I wonder when we can expect EA to close Bioware
It's called needing to make money. Your parents aren't going to pay for you forever. Want to get fired? There's something called quitting, know why they don't quit? Because they need money!
You have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about, now please log out of Facepunch and learn what life in employment is like.
Huh? What was that all about?
basicly, Origin caused a huge media outrage in germany, being shown on every popular channel and going on every newspaper, and even a possible sale ban if EA didn't change the Eula and way Origin behaved.

i feel bad for all of the coders and artists losing their jobs thanks to a terrible administration team above
Uh no, that's not great at all. Nobody should pay their games at a 1:1 dollar to euro rate. At this point it's just Valve fanboyism. If it were EA everybody would go "hurr they increased the prices in richer countries to milk consumers even more, EA are greedy fucks". I mean, I like Valve and Steam as I hate EA but this is ridiculous.
I thought it had to do with taxes or VAT or whatever being considerably higher in many European countries compared to the US.
I thought it had to do with taxes or VAT or whatever being considerably higher in many European countries compared to the US.
Norway has (or had, there's this law that's gonna change it, but I'm not sure if it's in effect yet) no VAT on online purchases, we still pay 1:1 dollar to euro.

(But I really don't know)
Can we all please just agree not to buy the next CoD or BF game... we should start some sort of massive campaign. They're just going to keep doing shit like this because people still throw their money at it. They'll NEVER change unless we change.
In some cases, rising the price may work. With videogames, lowering the price generally brings in more sales. The die-hards will buy the game, but people who might not normally play games might think 'For the sake of fifteen quid I'll give it a bash'. Kinda like what Valve are doing with CS:GO, it's so damn cheap I'm just going to straight up buy it.

The only reason I have Battlefield 3 is it came free with my graphics card and I haven't even played it that much.

I find them quite boring. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Also, it makes me wonder if people don't bother buying MMOs out of fear they will go free later. I know that's why I never bought Champions Online at the time, I was sure it'd go free and I'd have wasted £30. I thought the same with ToR, just wait for it to go free and save the money.
It seems like EA is doing worse and worse financially every month, and they're doing stupid shit to make it even worse....and that gives me a hard-on.
The people who work for EA are suffering Having to work overtime without getting paid, super tight deadlines, etc. I think some of the people would enjoy getting fired so they don't need to work for EA
Weird, when I did my internship at EA UK everything was chill as fuck, it was probably the nicest building I've ever been in as well, it wasn't as draconian as people like to think it is but that was a few years ago working on Burnout Dominator, before EA went full-blown jerk, they've closed down BrightLight since then
honestly the moment games become 70$ at base price is the point where I stop buying said games.
So games are going to start costing £50 again? Haha games companies can fuck right off, especially considering games quality has been decreasing over the years.

good TOR is shit after spending 20$ for a month for subbing back, updating from release, it's still shit
