I'm mostly tired of arguing because I'm just repeating the same points over and over again, and arguing the same thing with different people. Terrible feeling when you're the only one arguing for one side.
I think that's because you continually miss the point your opponents are trying to make, and everyone's trying to point out what you're missing to you. This is something you've got a big hangup over, and that's obvious, so why keep arguing if you can't see it rationally? Just agree to disagree.
In Internet discussions, people often fail to critically re-evalue their points as the discussion goes on or to change their stance in any meaningful way. This goes both ways.
No, because I've spent like 3 days arguing in a thread where I shouldn't spend 3 days arguing in.
I've stated my position, explained the reason as much as I could. I'm not going to change my position on this. There is no point in me debating this issue further because we're going in circles and repeating what I've said for the 3rd or 4th time.

Please stop with this assumptious bullshit, this is like the third time you've done this. It's one of the reasons why I stopped arguing with you.
I get the points, but I don't agree with their points because I have a different viewpoint on what should make a law.

I've noticed this thing that happens a lot in online arguments, where someone says they're done arguing and then continues on arguing. If you're gonna back out, you gotta commit to it.

Yeah I hate myself for this, deep flaw of mine. It's hard to quit arguing when then someone makes a blasphemous claim about how you're looking at other people's points.

Then we obviously disagree on a level of fundamental political beliefs, and it's utterly pointless to argue further. I've lived in Saudi Arabia. I've lived in the UAE. I've seen how wrong laws based on morals can go, and that is why I believe they have no place in the government of any country that claims to be "free". You're welcome to disagree with me, but hear this. If you're against the sort of abuse that goes on in theocracies like Saudi Arabia, and still insist that laws based on morality are fine, it makes you a hypocrite, because what you're really saying is "fuck everyone else, I want the country's laws to reflect my personal ideals of right and wrong."

Also, I don't think the word 'blasphemy' means what you think it means.

I think there's a clear line where there's some mental gymnastics going on. Don't think about it, think about it, I don't care. But the line is you said morals are a good basis for laws, but see only the upsides to this, not the apparent downsides. A moral is just an arbitrary rule. Making laws should be based on utility or logical approach or the ability to reach a desired end result through a defined method. If you want morals to be the way to define laws, then it stands to reason you're a hypocrite for not being okay with gay marriage being illegal based on those morals.
If morals are a suitable justification for a law, what morals exactly do you follow, all of them? What about people with different ideas of moral rights and wrongs?
