imagine almost crying because of a tit statue
I think I'd be on the verge of tears too if I had to see Hillary naked.
imagine almost crying because of a tit statue
Happens in the elder scrolls thread all the time.
No, it should be, it was placed on a public place and abandoned, it falls under free speech but so should destroying it fall under free speech. or at least thats how i see it. Since the statue is basically one big political statement.
So what, is firebombing the GOP Office alright because freedom of speech and politics? Like, its one thing destroying shit you own in public as a political message, its another to destroy someone elses shit.
If it was in an area it was allowed to be in / had a permit destroying it would be dumb, but since they just throw it up people are allowed to throw it down, just like they're allowed to rip a poster off a wall
So what, is firebombing the GOP Office alright because freedom of speech and politics? Like, its one thing destroying shit you own in public as a political message, its another to destroy someone elses shit.
Read what you said and realise you posted something dumb.
Shows how intelligent and stable these people are by destroying things they don't like rather than discussing it like fucking adults.
Since it is one big political statements, should we destroy everything that is considered one big political statement? Or does that depend on if it conflicts with our political view or not?
No, again, it was abandoned on public property without a permit to stand there... destroying it is just as much freedom of speech as placing it there is. I think the people destroying it are sad and idiots, but still...
Happens in the elder scrolls thread all the time.
To be fair, this is just ungodly horrible mental images. The TES thread contains eldrich abominations conjured from the deep, dark abyss of the most horrific modders minds.
why's everybody's assuming the people who knocked over fat tiddy clinton in a crowded city weighed their conscience over whether it was OK to do this compared to how other people reacted to a trump statue they likely didn't even know existed like I always see people saying website polls of 10k people aren't indicative of the whole nation but a couple people kick over somebody's grotesque art project and WOW THE SHILLARIES HAVE NO QUARRELS WITH SHUTTING DOWN FREE SPEECH FUCKING DOUBLE STANDARDS
Read what you said and realise you posted something dumb.
I posted something dumb? Coming from Mister "its okay to destroy whatever shit you want if its political" Blizzerd over here? [editline]18th October 2016[/editline] I'd appreciate an actual argument instead of a "no u".
it was abandoned on public property without a permit to stand there... destroying it is just as much freedom of speech as placing it there is.
Uh, no. [editline]18th October 2016[/editline] I dont know about you but im pretty sure vandalism is illegal.
To be fair, this is just ungodly horrible mental images. The TES thread contains eldrich abominations conjured from the deep, dark abyss of the most horrific modders minds.
The two candidates aren't eldritch but they are both certainly abominations.
Uh, no. [editline]18th October 2016[/editline] I dont know about you but im pretty sure vandalism is illegal.
It's not vandalism if it was there illegally in the first place though
It's not vandalism if it was there illegally in the first place though
Im not to keen on what does or doesnt count, but shouldnt it? Its not like you'd be able to fuck up an illegally parked car, right?
it was abandoned on public property without a permit to stand there... destroying it is just as much freedom of speech as placing it there is.
True, but they aren't really helping the situation by making a bigger mess now are they? The responsible thing to do would be to leave the statue alone and let the city take care of it. By destroying it they show that they aren't interested in understanding the message behind the piece, and are interesting in destroying anything they feel doesn't agree with them. We all have the freedom of speech, but we also have the freedom of choice.
Both statues are stupid. "But it's meant to be STUPID. It's a caricature, it's meant to DE-DEIFY both candidates!" Yeah, no. Just like most political cartoons, they're shallow and contribute precisely nothing meaningful. Hacks.
Yeah, no. Just like most political cartoons, they're shallow and contribute precisely nothing meaningful. Hacks.
some can be pretty good
some can be pretty good
There are plenty of good political cartoons out there, but compared to the shitty ones they are a minority.
There are plenty of good political cartoons out there, but compared to the shitty ones they are a minority.
on legitimate talk about political cartoons, jesus christ they're so bad overall these days. I know they're supposed to be opinion pieces, vying to explain complex things with a simple "playing with action figures" style situation, but there's so many tropes that just don't matter anymore in the information age, and abstracting shit into caricatures tends to (ironically) over-complicate shit (if there's a valid point to be found in the first place), often creating grey-zones to be misinterpreted by the viewer, who otherwise would have benefitted even from a half-assed tl;dr caption
People stole the Trump statues, so I'm not sure why Trump empathizers are crying about the Hillary statue being destroyed in one of the most liberal cities in America. Both are dumb. I like the statues though.
i will take both statues and put them in my foyer
Both statues are stupid. "But it's meant to be STUPID. It's a caricature, it's meant to DE-DEIFY both candidates!" Yeah, no. Just like most political cartoons, they're shallow and contribute precisely nothing meaningful. Hacks.
Personally I thought both were pretty hilarious. Either way destroying something just because you dislike it is retarded though. The city coming in and removing the Trump statues was fine since they weren't legally there. Random people destroying this statue simply because they disliked it is idiotic and, as AaronM202 suggested, pretty much vandalism. It'd have been different if the city had come in and removed of then disposed of it.
