What For all I know from the books, being a witcher is about killing monsters for money So the game should be called like "guy who used to be a witcher but now he got a cool beard and changed his name to Gabe Newell to open a video game company" I would like see how it would fit in cover
I think it means Geralt is done with politics. Like how he was Foltest's bodyguard at the start of TW2, and spent most of the game working for Temeria to clear his name. [editline]5th February 2013[/editline]
That person has blonde/white hair. Triss has red hair.
It's probably not Yennefer either. She had black hair iirc.
I'm so fucking excited, The wild-hunt, [sp] The Nilfgardian invasion, and the massive witch hunt[/sp] all acumlating into one amazing cluster fuck. I just got done my 3rd playthrough on the hardest dificulty and I'm not sure which timeline I'd rather see carried over to the Witcher 3. I'm thinking roche's simply because [sp] The Northern Kingdoms stand more of a chance[/sp]
It's going to be awesome.
I never could get into the Witcher 2, it just wasn't for me. However, I do know that many people here enjoyed the Witcher franchise, so I'm happy for you guys who enjoy the game.
If anyone's interested, there's fan translations of all 5 The Witcher books right here. Easily downloaded as pdf from google docs. Adds a ton of background information and lore to the series. Besides that they're also great fantasy books.
Can't wait to start reading this on my new Nexus 7. Should be pretty awesome.
The Witcher 2 surpassed the Bioware RPG's in every way. Let's see if the Witcher 3 can hold up to it.
Been thinking about playing the Witcher. Is it good? Also, is it important to play the first one first?
Been thinking about playing the Witcher. Is it good? Also, is it important to play the first one first?
the story will make much more sense if you've played the first one, they'll throw around names of places you've never heard of and characters will appear that you've never seen or heard of before with no explanation who they are, I'd recommend playing the first one. it's a pretty good game anyway
What are your specs? Witcher 2 is known for being optimized fairly well. It's likely that whatever issue you were having (assuming you don't have an ancient PC) was fixable.
i5 2500k, gtx 460, 4gb ram
Finished reading the last book a few weeks ago and it was amazing. I hope they use a bit more of that "fuck you we'll explain NOTHING go read the BOOKS you find everywhere" attitude of the first a bit more.
Honestly was one of the weakest parts of the series, you got so lost if you didn't read into the backstory of everything This is bad when the other books in the series aren't in english or when its pretty much impossible to find the books anywhere
I think he meant the in-game books. I didn't find reading the books necessary to get a grip on pretty much every element of the story, but the short texts do provide the player getting more deep knowledge about certain things. I don't think sticking things away from plain sight of players is necessarily bad design; it'd be pretty overwhelming to have everything presented to you in the form of tutorials or trivia-spouting characters. It also allows players to choose their level of knowledge depth. For example I remember discovering the function and usage of secondary substances in alchemy ingredients simply through reading a short alchemy-related text found in a book, something which may have caused the alchemy tutorial to become confusing if it had been mentioned there.

Yet your character has all this knowledge, responds as if he knew what everyone was talking about, etc. It's a pretty huge disconnect and it made the plot pretty hard to get into. However once I already beat the game once, became familiar with the land, read some wikis, etc, the second playthrough was WAY more interesting because suddenly things people were talking about started making at least some sense. If they can get that solved for the third game, that would fix pretty much any issues I had with Witcher 2 story wise. The writing is great, the characters are nice, etc but you never really understand why things are happening at all or who people are because the game never takes any time to explain the world, ease you into the political situation, and make sure the player becomes invested in the actual land before they just throw you right in the middle of some political upheaval with some king you don't know anything about.
so pumped witcher 2 was fantastic, I can stand the first though. the combat is just plain horrid.

It didn't give me a preconceived notion of the stance of any one nation or person and allowed me to discover as I played. The disconnect simply was not there for me because I was drawn in from the beginning, my want to know more about the situation driving me to play more.
While it's possible she'll finally have a part in the games since Geralt's memory is back, I think it's more likely that particular person is Triss. I have a feeling that many of Geralt's friends will be available to travel with, or you have to pick one just one or two to come with you to [sp]Nilfgaard[/sp].
The other person in the picture has long white hair, so I doubt it.
I'm gonna be honest here I'm a little more interested in Cyberpunk but this is still exciting!
