Gen 3 had berry growth, running, weather, Gen 4 brought in wifi gameplay, Gen 5 brought in double wild battles (a predecessor to hordes), the EXP system was retooled to inhibit grinding against very low-level Pokemon when using high-level Pokemon, Rotation battles, added abilities to old Pokemon which drastically changed how they played (Politoed getting Drizzle, which causes it to rain, and Ninetales getting Drought (which causes it to be very sunny), are two big examples) and introduced seasons, and Gen 6 added more wifi options as well as player customization.

Any suggestions on how to fix that? Psychic and Fire as a combo is way too OP, and the rest of my team is outmatched by the current level enemies.

You might also try limiting yourself somehow, like never using bag items in-battle.

I beat the game in 5 days using only my Fire type startes (Delphox, Blaziken, and Charizard). That water type dude at the end was a pain though...

Yesss, this is my favorite gen. I just really haven't been feeling pokemon since Black/White, because..Well, black was just..bad. I've heard from friends that X/Y are much better, so I'll take their word for it. I'm hella hype for this, though.
