I'd be more impressed if they found some bacteria or other lifeforms there.
there's still the matter of toxic perchlorate in all the dirts.
We'll just take some of those Alex Jones-approved water filters.
If they can remove fluoride, they can remove perchlorate!

The Germans will be all over that shit. :v:

Interesting find, the fact they found water, or water minerals, basically increased chances of finding life on mars, right?

it isn't in liquid form which means it isn't likely to find life floating around in it. at least i don't think.
life requires liquid water, not just h2o.

Sounds like a problem with one of the actuators, you should run some diagnostics on that.

Hey man I've got some cool crystals you can make by mixing bleach and ammonia and then blowing into it hard with a straw.
martian roflcopters sure have good waterproofing

RING-A-DING-DING BABY, WE'RE GOIN' TO MARS
there is no life on mars
In terms of life as we know it living on the surface, probably not. Who knows, maybe there's weird-ass "life" there on parts of the surface we haven't explored that defies all standards of life as we know, or maybe there's normal/weird life in the deeper or more remote parts of Mars. We haven't been underground or in the deeper surface areas of Mars yet, so literally anything could be there, from fossils or markings of sentient beings long gone to living plants or animals adapted to the conditions. Of course, there's probably nothing there sadly, as is usually the case, but we'll never know until we look.
The fact that water is present in any form and in such large amounts is a damn good sign that there either might be or possibly used to be something living on the red planet. If there was (or even currently is) life on Mars that functioned in any way similar to how our life does, it would've needed water to live, and we now know that water has been on the planet at some point.
Plus, you're really in no position to irrefutably state that Mars is 100% lifeless. I'm not in any position to resolutely state the opposite myself, but that's the beauty of it, we have to keep searching until we find out for sure.
The title says "soi" lol
but seriously, the US needs to fund NASA right now. we need to start flying to mars.
Well the title is still correct :v: There's water in the martian sphere of influence
Still waiting for the rover to accidently wander into a portal to hell.
I'd be more impressed if they found some bacteria or other lifeforms there.
This is a start, and even if we don't find any now-living life, this improves the chances of there once having been life on Mars.
Also it means that with water being present, terraforming is possible.

My mind struggles to come up with a way to insult you enough to satisfy how angry your ignorance makes me that will not get me banned
It all makes sense now.

Literally the dumbest thing I have heard for weeks. Anyone with even the simplest understanding of Biology can see the huge and numerous flaws in that statement.

There's two statements there, and two extra implications. Does that really qualify as numerous? They are huge, though.
