How so? It's the truth.
wow there are a lot of political hipsters coming out of the woodworks saying "I always hated him" tonight
Yeah, it's so 'edgy' to hate somebody who caused the death of potentially hundreds of innocents and ushered in a generation of destitution and poverty for an entire nation.
These are grave news indeed. Glad to see so many of my friends honouring his memory, even if just on Facebook. It's good to know that people appreciate his actions even today.
Goodnight, sweet prince.

You can further discuss your hatred here:

Are you trying to imply that I'm an anti-Semite because of my opinions on an entirely unrelated topic?

You have yet to provide an argument as to how bombing a school bus and a church will ~help our movement~
See you, Mr Mandela.
Honestly, I'd rather there be people who point out Mandela's criminal past. There's no need to whitewash his lifetime. Let him be judged by history on both his positive and negative actions.

Can't say that I expected more from YouTube, but this is mindblowing.

How is a Nelson Mandela's death article unrelated to Nelson Mandela's death article?

The direction this thread has taken in a nutshell.
Buryyyyy Nelson Mandela
Buryyyyy Nelson Mandela
21 years in senility...
The direction this thread has taken in a nutshell.
Except not at all, because nobody is celebrating his death, just bringing up questionable actions of his past.
did he write that
William Ernest Henley wrote that. It is the poem "Invictus" I cannot remember why but the poem has a direct relation to Mandela.
EDIT: Ok

this man was a real historical figure. he was in prison longer than i or many posters here have been alive, and he still accomplished so much.
heroic terrorist

Guy is responsible for mass-bombing of civilians who weren't even in relation to the apartheid government. In his rule, South Africa has become a slaughterhouse and feel-good rape house and disease central in Afirca, massive unemployment and starvation through out the country, and yeah.
Sucks the guy died, but realistically speaking his accomplishments with removing the Apartheid Government have only caused a lot more civil strife and bad shit going on in South Africa. Not even to mention he still was responsible for signing off on the bombings of Churches and Schools across South Africa in the Early 80's.
gee thanks Gwoodman :downs:
Instead of rating me dumb how about explaining why you think those people are wrong.
thank you so much for changing it to a disagree that makes me feel better about myself

What, just because he's dead, you can't point out the things that he actually did? Yes he did some good, but he did a whole lot of terrible things to get there.
In the course of the armed struggle, a number of military actions took place which resulted in the death or injury of civilians, and where gross violations of human rights can be said to have been committed, despite ANC policy to avoid unnecessary loss of life. Police statistics indicate that, in the period 1976 to 1986, approximately 130 people were killed by ‘terrorists’. Of these, about thirty were members of various security forces and one hundred were civilians. Of the civilians, forty were white and sixty black1.
Blacks made up 60% of the civilian casualties in attacks by black liberationists. In an apartheid nation.
How?
I know that this is the Onion, and that parody sites aren't generally allowed here, but I feel like it's an appropriate sendoff in a way.
Nelson Mandela Becomes First Politician To Be Missed
JOHANNESBURG—Following the death of former South African president and civil rights leader Nelson Mandela today at the age of 95, sources confirmed that the revered humanitarian has become the first politician in recorded history to actually be missed. “Today we lost not only an international hero and a symbol of the resilient human spirit, but also the very first political figure ever who people actively wish was still alive and affecting world affairs,” said political historian Wallace M. Delaney of Columbia University, adding that Mandela will long be remembered for enduring 27 years in prison in the fight against apartheid, championing equality across the globe, and standing alone as the only world leader whose passing left the international community grief-stricken and feeling a palpable void in their lives.
Because they attacked blacks who didn't fit with their political affiliations, also collateral damage.
RIP. He was the perfect activist. He was peaceful when he could be, but fought a long guerrilla battle against imperialists when he could not be.
Can we not forget he was a radical and a fighter before he was elected?
Looks like Morgan Freeman's going to need to find another stunt double.

Sounds like a certain Austrian too, who then went all nutter butters.
The man was an inspiration, but at 95 he had his fair share of life. Still, a brilliant consciousness has been lost to the void...
wow, read about him being in the hospital in a weak condition earlier
fuck

But now is not the time.
Stop acting like he was Hitler or something. Like it or not, this man was a hero. Was George Washington less of a hero for owning slaves? By your logic, yes. No one is perfect, but for God's sake, don't start slamming an all-around good man not even a day after his death.

"All-around good man", he bombed civilians. Nelson Mandela is wrongly held up as some kind of modern-day saint. His death is probably the best - and last - opportunity to change that perception.
1918-2013? man thats a long run through changes of technologies.
RIP Nelson Mandela, We lost a great hero...
