Military industrial complex at work. Congress doesn't give a shit what the Army actually needs, they just want to keep tax dollars flowing to the contractors in their districts. I'm surprised we haven't had a story break about factory new Blackhawks being dumped in the ocean to justify ordering more.
if we were to remove the outer space treaty the us government would forcefeed NASA so much money they could probably have a manned mars mission in less than a year
And stop trying to funnel money to NASA, we genuinely have more problems than space right now.
I don't get why people think sending money to NASA will solve all their problems. NASA is mired with mismanagement problems, which causes a lot of wasted money, with no promise of returns. The future of space will have to rely on privatization with companies like SpaceX. There are more pressing issues to deal with. Once they are resolved and space becomes more important, then can we send money to NASA.
"You guys want some more tanks?" "No tanks."
Oh yeah, spending valuable finite minerals that takes hundreds of million years to be made, so you can keep improving your balance of income. Why not spend more on improving transportation systems, healthcare and other needs for society? Oh I forgot, money America is a dominant nation, that means great responsibility. Because everything they do effects us others, their descisions depends on other nation's descision.
Why not agree that Death Star petition instead?
Why not agree that Death Star petition instead?
dont even TALK about that stupid thing, all it did was make it harder for legitimate petitions to go through
Stop shoving tanks down the army's throat and give more money to NASA
Why just NASA?
That is really stupid. When the ARMY says " We are cool, no more tanks." You know they don't need ANYMORE. Yet congress still gives them money for tanks. Why.jpeg
The army should funnel all that extra cash into R&D. Can't tell you how many awesome things had their beginnings as a military technology.
I think instead of NASA or tanks we should just put that money into education i mean fuck i want to go to college for free off of government money and i'm sure we'd have more college graduates if we just helped more people pay for it and teachers are payed very little for the important work that they do
The army should funnel all that extra cash into R&D. Can't tell you how many awesome things had their beginnings as a military technology.
Like the F-35?
Like the F-35?
Like, the internet.
Excess tanks might show up at military auctions so I'll try and buy one, need a new ride to work that's flashy yet intimidating
An Abrams is surprisingly not that expensive. A bit over $4 Million if I remember correctly
I think instead of NASA or tanks we should just put that money into education i mean fuck i want to go to college for free off of government money and i'm sure we'd have more college graduates if we just helped more people pay for it and teachers are payed very little for the important work that they do
the cruelty is that goverment subsidies to colleges increase each year, coincidentally tuition rises, so financial aid rises too, which causes tuition to rise
Education and health care for everyone should be priority. Instead, thanks to war profiteering, Congressmen apparently think more tanks is needed.
Article made me imagine a US Army General trapped in a giant room full of tanks going: "NO! Please! No more taaannnks-" before getting buried in tanks.
i'm imagining the Congress is somewhere to the left [sub][sub][sub]i know the original context of the clip but this just seemed fitting[/sub][/sub][/sub]
I've seen this exact scene before, there was a train passing through my city with lines of tanks, artillery units, and jeeps for like a good three minutes straight. I thought we were going to war or something.
I'm having deja-vu about this topic... The only way we can fix this is if we can get the manufacturers to find something to make that we might actually want.... ...Sword...vans... maybe? I dunno here.
Why not give that 436 million to NASA to build SPACE TANKS
MR. PRESIDENT, WE MUST NOT ALLOW A SPACE TANK GAP!
Some day every infantryman will have his own Abrams tank

Honestly thinking about so, If this deal is basically just keeping the companies who produce the tanks and parts alive economically, we should help these companies move to a different production such as space production. Have them assist in creating and researching therefor we can move the money into nasa's budget. Tell a business about tax credits or assistance programs and they will flock
And stop trying to funnel money to NASA, we genuinely have more problems than space right now.
NASA kinda has a lot to do with communication services over the entire planet, as well as your weather forecasts, so more money to NASA's already incredibly light budget in comparison to the Defense Budget is a good thing.
Instead of more tanks, please send some of that to upgrade our aged OH-58D fleet. It would save a boatload on operational costs in the long run.
Instead of more tanks, please send some of that to upgrade our aged OH-58D fleet. It would save a boatload on operational costs in the long run.
how about we stop spending money on our military and spend it in areas that actually need it like oh i dunno, education
I've seen this exact scene before, there was a train passing through my city with lines of tanks, artillery units, and jeeps for like a good three minutes straight. I thought we were going to war or something.
For a country with the biggest military around, I'm surprised we don't see it more often in our day to day lives, in person Well, aside from my area. AC-130's are out shooting shit up every other night where I live. The only benefit is I can crank my games up as loud as I want and neighbors won't complain because they'll think it's the air force
how about we stop spending money on our military and spend it in areas that actually need it like oh i dunno, education
Money already set aside for the military will go to the military. It would do congress good to, instead of spending money on new things that they would then have to turn around and maintain them, doubling costs, to spend the investment on upgrading the old stuff we have already paid for a long time ago, and it would reduce operating and maintaining costs for the equipment due to modern equipment with more abundant parts, which is cheaper to buy and maintain than the old stuff. It would save a mountain in the long run, and drastically reduce the overall operating costs of the equipment that the military already has. I am not saying that education deserves less money, all I am saying is that with the money going into the military, at the very least apply it in a smart fashion that will make things more efficient and less costly.
