Money already set aside for the military will go to the military. It would do congress good to, instead of spending money on new things that they would then have to turn around and maintain them, doubling costs, to spend the investment on upgrading the old stuff we have already paid for a long time ago, and it would reduce operating and maintaining costs for the equipment due to modern equipment with more abundant parts, which is cheaper to buy and maintain than the old stuff. It would save a mountain in the long run, and drastically reduce the overall operating costs of the equipment that the military already has. I am not saying that education deserves less money, all I am saying is that with the money going into the military, at the very least apply it in a smart fashion that will make things more efficient and less costly.
that money does not need to be set aside for the military
that money does not need to be set aside for the military
And that is your subjective opinion. The fact is that the money is going towards the military. It would behoove congress to use that military money to help improve the military so that we aren't trying to maintain aged stuff with old contracts that cost an incredible amount of money.
you act is if it's impossible for the money to not go to the military
It is not impossible, however THIS money is indeed going there, and was already set aside for that purpose. It is pointless to attempt to change the direction that this particular sum is going towards, due to the fact that it is already set aside for military spending, and accounted for in that aspect. Government appropriations follow rigid rules.
Instead of more tanks, please send some of that to upgrade our aged OH-58D fleet. It would save a boatload on operational costs in the long run.
Soon you're going to be an Abrams crew chief instead...
Soon you're going to be an Abrams crew chief instead...
Oh hell no.
dont even TALK about that stupid thing, all it did was make it harder for legitimate petitions to go through
Yeah, that petition to get Obama to show his "REAL" birth certificate beat it to the punch
So the army has like eight thousand of them and Russia has like five thousand T-80s. Why would we need more of them? Not even our former Cold War enemy and current global antagonist can field as many tanks as we can.
the cruelty is that goverment subsidies to colleges increase each year, coincidentally tuition rises, so financial aid rises too, which causes tuition to rise
College is so expensive because of supply and demand. Lots of people want college education, but the supply is so little, so the price goes up. The sad thing is that instead of simply increasing the supply, colleges just raised the price. But I digress.
Meanwhile in Russia Aboslutely anyone related to goverment:"We need more of this!", Goverment:"We have no money, sorry". It's like the complete oposite

It is pointless to attempt to change the direction that this particular sum is going towards we have the largest prison system and the largest military budget, you'd think we were trying to take over the fucking world. I'm not saying you're saying it should stay this way, I'm just saying, its pretty wild to say they should just let that money keep going to basically nothing when the people getting it are repeatedly going "no thanks no thanks no thanks"
Out of all the places where money goes, the military is the strangest because of how they actually handle things. On one hand, you have a routine policy of dumping morons and various other failures into the procurement field, and they buy literally the wrong things at inappropriate prices all the time. (this has been an issue ever since WWI) On the other, you have areas that need things (like funding) that don't get it because of military politics. So, yeah, good job Congress. Also, on the subject of the money going to education, it's not even like they need a lot of extra money anyway. They're used to having hardly anything to work with, so that money could go a long, long way for a lot of schools across the country.
