Winston Churchill's long lost Tommy Gun has been found.

Wait a minute... My family is related (albeit somewhat distantly) to Winston Churchill, and the Spencer family.
Wouldn't that technically make me eligible to inherit this?
I'm not disrespecting any piece of history or anyone here. I was turned into some "gun toting murdering redneck" by some uninformed individual who should really understand what he's talking about.
Again, English forum with tons of gun totin 'mericans as members... This is what happens. You Englishmen hate guns, we love em. That's it.
I own guns
I very much like guns
I think people who are afraid of them on FP or somewhere for one reason or another are fairly silly
but you're just making an ass of yourself making an argument where no one wants yet another one, you should probably stop : ^)

Excuse me sir. Did you realise you were shitposting in a no-shitposting area? I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the thread for me so I can take your details. If you comply this'll go a lot easier for both of us.
What is your endgame with this shit? Shut the fuck up about how awesome you think guns are, nobody gives a shit. And stop playing the victim in circumstances you created. It looks silly.
I kinda wonder how the Thompson got lost, they aren't exactly unnoticeable things. Pretty cool its been found, now the question is which museum do I need to visit to see the thing?
I don't think gun owners realize how dumb they sound when they use that one, last time I checked those things aren't designed for the purpose of killing and are no where near as effective.
Go mass debate somewhere else.
Typical Brit response. Understand American culture first and then respond. Firearms are a sport for me first and a protection second. 99% of the country agrees. You anti gun guys really need to understand what you're against.
At least our police (who only do paperwork) are armed. Just saying.
You all need to chill the fuck out and stop derailing this thread

Sorry to offend you because I have a legal basis for protecting myself and my family.
Can we just talk about this bad ass of a PM you guys had in the 40's.
I like debate and all but it started off completely wrong here.
Are you people blind, stop responding to trolls, look at his damn date and his post count, jeez.

Let's all just be calm here, shut the fuck up about gun laws and gun safety, and just talk about how cool it is that a piece of history connected to Winston Churchill got dug up.

New Rules In The NFL's Updated Personal Conduct Policy
Following a spate of high-profile domestic violence cases involving the likes of Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson, the NFL officially ratified a new personal conduct policy this week for all players and league employees. Here are some notable rules in the updated guidelines:
League to now use independent investigators to provide them with evidence to discard
Any domestic violence incident must be personally authorized by Roger Goodell at least 24 hours before the battery is to take place
Sexual assault and child abuse violations result in automatic six-game suspension, a stiff penalty that encourages players to commit crimes early in the year and be back in time for the playoffs

Good gun the Thompson, they liked using those with their Sten SMG if my memory isn't garbage.
Very cool. I always loved the way Thompsons looked. IIRC, they required a lot more hand milling and actual craftwork than later guns made mostly out of stamped steel.
Did you know Japan decided to not invade the US because 99% of the US was armed?
Not only is the idea of Japan invading the US fucking stupid, but technically they did.
The Tommy Gun, the original non-lethal crowd control weapon.
Most people that actually used those didn't bother aiming them, they weren't for killing people, they were there for crowd control. As far as I know.
I seriously hope they put it into a museum. That is quite a memorial piece right there, toward that certain person.
I wanna see if it still works. Take it to a range, fill the drum, and let's see what happens!
They were heavy as shit due to the fact that they were made of milled steel, and the bolt was designed to unlock via friction, so the bolt was heavy as fuck too. This lead to a gun that was heavy as shit. They also found that it was nigh uncontrollable on full auto, so quick bursts were used.
It's a cool piece of history, but thankfully it's staying history, it weighed 10 pounds empty.
The M1928 Thompson 45. Sub Machine Gun.
Kickass in Movies.
So much fun in Video games.
Great for display.
Really really really must have sucked to actually operate. :v:

They were mostly used for killing people. See WW2.
Yea, it was actually pretty popular due to it's massive stopping power at close range, but the drums made the already heavy weapon just fucking ridiculous, so stick mags were used primarily.
Can't deny the power of the .45
Plus extra popularity for use in the Cops vs Gangsters 1920s/30s.
Did you know Japan decided to not invade the US because 99% of the US was armed?
I'm going to focus on this because I have a good idea on exactly what kind of logistics go into amphibian invasions. Here goes.
Japan didn't invade the mainland United States because they couldn't, guns or no. Their navy wasn't all that it was cracked out to be, they were struggling to even hold onto their maximum extent, their resources were being depleted from the United States' blockade, and going into the mainland would mean they would have to fight the entire US military with supplies that had to be sailed all the way across the Pacific with a lot of resistance from the US Navy, with all of those supplies having to come in otherwise the invasion stalls or, even worse, disintegrates.
It would've been a suicide mission and one that would be a waste for everyone involved, but especially Japan which would've burst into flames like the Hindenburg much sooner than it did. Germany didn't invade Britain because 99% of the population was armed. It was because of logistics. It's the same with Japan invading America.

That would be possible if you had any.
