OK. BTW steadicams are pretty heavy, on top of the camera and other crap you would have on it.
Yeah but get rid of the stupid fucking segway. Camera gear is clunky and heavy, not really a job for the lazy, I'm sure this pillock has adequate legs for the job. Anyone seen these dickheadmobiles popping up in the snapback wearing ASBO community?
Usain does walk back towards him, you can see it in this video:
Usain Bolt has a great sense of humor here, even acknowledges that accidents happen. What a trooper.
Yeah but get rid of the stupid fucking segway. Also you're carrying a 25lb+ camera with a 8lb easy-rig, that's a lot of weight and doing that for half an hour alone can be very taxing to your legs. Especially when you're walking or running around with it, repositioning, etc. You're not going to get anything steadier than that set up or a Steadicam, which would also add more weight to your legs. The Segway makes handheld steadier (not steadicam smooth) and easier to do your job. Especially when the producer and director want you to follow the runners who often do a jog after a race. The guy does have the legs to do the running but no one has the steady arms to hold a camera while running, it's really hard. Although it's easier with a heavier camera. Also maintenance on those little things will probably suck when the frame is bent out of shape due to the weight. And have fun going over cable mats with that thing.
The segway is there to make the shot as smooth as possible. While steadicams can reduce the amount of wobble, using a segway could make for a smoother shot. Plus, making him use a steadicam would make him more useless for other shots, so the decision may have been to have him hop on the segway for this shot, and maybe hop off for other shots etc. You can get pretty sick shots if you combine both, heh <- Camera Operator/Video Technical Director
wtf usain didn't even check if the guy that hit him was ok, what a prick
It looks like he might have said something to him for a second just before he gets up from the roll.
holy hell I wish I could rate everybody but gaboer dumb segways are fucking brilliant for shots that otherwise would have needed rails to look even remotely good
That poor camera :c
yeah that camera and lens is at least $10k. Also the camerman practically landed flat on his back... potential for injury was much greater for him over Bolt.
You gotta realize this guys legs are his life and livelihood.
I bet they're insured.
He hardly reacted at all other than getting up and limping after getting hit by a man, his camera, and segway. I don't think he at all reacted like he had been hit by a car at full speed... You gotta realize this guys legs are his life and livelihood.
his legs are fine. they'll be sore for 20 minutes and he'll be good
I love how the camera guy got more attention than usain
I love how the camera guy got more attention than usain
The camera guy took the hit harder, Usain did a sweet roll and walked away.
why are people making such a big deal out of this?
why are people making such a big deal out of this?
It had the potential to be a lot worse, that's probably why they look at it with more reverence. If this guy had broken any bones of Usain Bolt it would've been a shitstorm.
You can get pretty sick shots if you combine both, heh
This comes to mind...
holy hell I wish I could rate everybody but gaboer dumb segways are fucking brilliant for shots that otherwise would have needed rails to look even remotely good
It was not the most elegant deployment of such a device.

Universal, huh? [SP]yeah I get it[/SP]

All I've seen is dickheads snapchatting their way through airports on the fucking things, like skateboards and shit I can understand but these things are for lazy shites.
Wow, if I tried that fuckery I'd be in for 2 broken ankles. Hell, maybe even 3 broken ankles.
This comes to mind...
Exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that. That op had some mad skills, I don't think any of our steadicam operators would want to attempt that lol

Here is a well timed picture.
Exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that. That op had some mad skills, I don't think any of our steadicam operators would want to attempt that lol
I know I wouldn't :v: although I would do segway and Steadicam.

Although they look pretty cool they're a one trick pony; they have no real use outside of looking cool for 15 minutes before they run out of charge.
