- Roughly two thirds of all Steam Mac users are running on a laptop. - Portal (with the same code base across platforms) is one fifth as likely to crash on a Mac than on Windows. - And one week after launch, already more than eleven percent of all Steam purchases are for the Mac.
wow.

Macs are known for the Macbook. Understandable. 2. Bullshit. Portal is horribly optimized for the Mac. 3. If they can spend $1400+ on a computer, then they can spend more money on games as well.
wow.
Sounds like Steam for Mac wasn't a bad investment.
3. If they can spend $1400+ on a computer, then they can spend more money on games as well.
The 11% of steam purchases is for only this past week.

[editline]03:37PM[/editline]
The 11% of steam purchases is for only this past week.
which is impressive.
runs fine on my MacBook

The Test For our test we loaded up our GPU test rig with Mac OS X 10.6.3 in a Hackintosh configuration. As Mac OS X does not currently support either the GeForce GTX 400 series or the Radeon HD 5000 series, we had to step back a bit with our video card choice, settling for a GeForce GTX 285. And while the use of a Hackintosh does technically invalidate our results since it’s not a real Macintosh, based on our experiments we believe that our results don’t suffer in any way for using a Hackintosh.
it's been fixed with a patch.
http://store.steampowered.com/news/3825/
Updates to Portal have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include: Fixed screen "fuzziness" caused by color correction operation Fixed text not rendering in game if font Tahoma was disabled Fixed startup video not playing fullscreen Added optional -snd_openal command line parameter to force the engine to use the OpenAL api, can be used if Portal is playing no audio when launched normally Added mac_fsbackground convar, on Snow Leopard or better you can set this to have Portal still visible when it is not the foreground application
No.
http://store.steampowered.com/news/3825/ No.
no what? they fixed the blurry/fuzziness issue. I don't give a shit about the benchmarks. it runs fine on my Macbook and that's all that matters to me.
Killing Floor
Really once you get over 30 frames a second it doesnt matter how well the game runs, atleast it works. There are plenty of people out there who cant even play the games. Some people just prefer the Mac OS over Windows, Ill never understand why you would though.
I can deal with 30fps, as long as my games run smoothly I'm happy I use both OS X and Windows
Yeah pretty much, some people say they cant stand with lower than 60 FPS but seriously 30 and up is smooth enough and runs just fine. Most Macs Ive seen can run Portal pretty well around 40FPS so there really isnt anything to complain about.

The lack of TF2 is disappointing. [editline]04:08PM[/editline] But fuck yeah for Killing Floor.
Hmm the mac version looks without bloom. But the support is nice, Valve is a great company.
The lack of TF2 is disappointing. [editline]04:08PM[/editline] But fuck yeah for Killing Floor.
having both would've been awesome.
I get like 40fps with settings at medium/high with 1280x800 as the resolution.
And thats actually pretty good considering the game wasnt even designed to run on the system and had to be ported over. Also TF2 is coming to Mac soon, probably after the Engi update.
Valve has the right idea. If you make your stuff available to more people, more people will buy it.
