article is misleading, people here illegally cannot directly sign up for welfare. every time i've asked for government assistance i was required to show valid ID and passport
Yep. My ancestors stood in line at Ellis Island, had to show they had a usable skill to provide the country, and fill out miles of paperwork to become an American citizen. Now you just have to dodge a couple guys in a truck in the middle of the desert.

rash bastardization of reality makes for a dumb argument

This is a good idea.
Okay, this is the problem. For once I actually agree with Glenn Beck. We need to enforce laws, or change them. Our immigration system is retarded and needs to be revamped. The vast majority of the illegal immigrants just want to live prosperous lives like normal Americans, keeping them illegal is just causing tax and corruption problems. I want opportunities for all who seek them and are willing to do the work for them. And the vast majority of our illegal immigrant population are willing to.
no, if you're born to illegal parents a law from back in 2004 or so declares you illegal
if such a law even exists, it's quite clearly unconstitutional
Okay, here is my argument:
Mexican Americans are always saying that America was built on the backs of immigrants. And that is true. The people who went to Ellis Island or Port of Los Angeles and did the paperwork and followed the legal route to become a citizen of the United States. The illegal immigrant with a stolen social security number dropping french fries at the burger joint or running a leaf blower in some wealthy dude's back yard is NOT the same kind of immigrant as the ones mentioned previously.
Many of them try desperately to be that kind of immigrant. You think the Germans, Italians and Irish wouldn't have done the same thing had they the same circumstances?
