if ever and the kitchen sink was appropriate
Too much soap.
Guys I think its totaled.
Don't worry guys, this is just the new convertible feature.
Only if you don't know how to do it.
The trick is to floor it and not let go. At least with manual transmission, that's how it works, and you can go through almost any body of water as long as you keep the throttle constant. Not sure if having a slushbox automatic would make it not work like that.
How does that work? It seems like it would make it worse.
The lower part must be gone by now
To be fair that thing was a writeoff anyway. No way in hell that highly precise german engineered engine didn't bend a rod, nor is there any way in hell the millions tons of electronics in the car survived the inundation.
Kinda feel sorry for whoever buys those parts on eBay though.
Wonder why they only took one rear quarter panel and part of the rocker panel?
Fun to see the windshield is cut right through the glass without a crack
I don't know what possesses someone to drive through flooding like that, you can very easily fuck up your engine.
I live in north queensland, Australia. During the monsoonal season every year some of the roads in our town get flooded. Most of these roads get shut off pretty quickly and only 4WD vehicles are allowed to brave it. Id gone on one of these roads at the start of a downpour, driving to my girlfriends house. I have a little Mazda Metro, the road goes both ways but no turn offs until you get all the way across. So the road was flooding and all the 4wds were flashing me to stop and turn back so i did, encountering huge flooded parts of the road.. so i turned around again and headed back again towards my girlfriends. Through most of the puddles all i could do was floor it and hope the engine didnt stall and drown. A few times my car shuddered and i thought i was fucked. But i made it through.. my heart thumping and racing.
The point is.. floodwaters usually come up so fast you barely have time to make a decision. Some of the deeper parts of the road were behind me and if i went back i would have been fucked. Most of the time your only choice is to just try to brave them and hope you can get to high ground as soon as possible.

How does he know it just didn't fall apart? I've seen it happen before to a car.

I really hope you are being sarcastic because eh... Nature doesn't tend to make extremely clean cuts through windshield glass which if I recall is supposed to shatter into large pieces semi-easily.
It'll buff out

Nah, I've seen it happen before. It was during a bad storm and water just kept ripping off pieces of a car till it looked just like that. Has to do with water density or something.
Wonder why they only took one rear quarter panel and part of the rocker panel?
They cut off what wasn't tagged with the VIN and left the rest.

The thing with flooring it is, if water gets sucked in and you hydrolock, your motor is fucked.
If youre at low rpm's and you hydrolock, usually all you have to do is get the water out of the cylinders, change the oil, and itll run. Do a few more oil changes shortly after until the oil stops being milky, and youre good to go
West coast customs new season confirmed
Some robot vultures must have eaten the dead car-cass.
this was one skillful chop-job lol
In all my born days, I've never seen a car this efficiently gibbed, portioned out, and its carcass left to rot. The owner must be amazed as hell.

It happened in less than two days too, apparently.
How come they didn't just tow it away? I'm sure it'd be worth more as a stolen car than as a bunch of hacked-up scrap metal.
Two reasons.
1) If they're after drug money, they can sell the scrap. Scrap iron doesn't go for much, but it's enough to get you your next buzz. (it's also why people will often steal the coils out of air conditioners)
2) Chop-shop. They take most of the car, what remains is considered "totaled", is sold at an auction where the thieves then buy what's left for dirt cheap, then they reassemble the car and sell it somewhere all shady like, often with a forged VIN.

Windscreens are designed not to break up, only the side and rear windows are

If you keep enought revs the gas out the exhaust will blow enough to stop water going in it, but if you air intake id lower than the water line you're ducked anyway

This is exactly why you should never buy parts from Ebay. At the very least, exercise extreme caution when doing so.
Why didn't the guy just called a towing service? I see no reasons.
Wow I'd love to know how they lifted the engine out of that.
