Damn. watching mccain say that really makes my heart sink over what republicans are now. [editline]16th October 2016[/editline] I'm not voting. Fuck them all.
And eight years ago we thought the birthers were the worst of the Republican demographic. And now here we are.
While I obviously disagree with much of his policy, I have always found McCain to be a very respectable man.
Perhaps we had overreacted with McCain and Romney being the end of the world.
Trump has told his supporters to go to the polling stations to make sure everything is on the up and up. You'd have to be naive to not see that he wants his supports to intimidate people into voting for him. Not to mention he has gone on about if he loses, it means it was rigged.
Throwback to when Hitler got his SA to do the same thing.
Perhaps we had overreacted with McCain and Romney being the end of the world.
To be honest, I would have voted for McCain, given the opportunity. I used to lean much farther right than I do now, especially on economic matters and foreign policy. I was still too young to vote at that time, however. By 2012 my perspective had changed, and I found Romney to be pretty damn unpalatable. Trump is obviously somebody I would NEVER have been able to vote for in good conscious. I doubt there will be ever be another candidate as personally revolting at Donald Trump. He is a disgusting, hateful, childish human being.
I hope so. My fear with all of the "remember when we thought bush/mcain/Romney were bad?" Comments I worry if the next candidate will make us go "rememeber when we thought trump was bad?"
I doubt there will be ever be another candidate as personally revolting at Donald Trump. He is a disgusting, hateful, childish human being.
It's going to get worse. I'm not saying that to be controversial, or to be mean, or anything. I genuinely think it's going to get worse as Trump has opened a Pandora's box - and he's not going to close it after the election, he's going to open it more. That's when things get truly terrifying. I hope to god you'll all be safe come this November.
I find it ironical that all came down to such a discussion. USA, among the most politically influential nations on globe, divided on internal level soo much that any election outcome is expected to cause chaos.
im pretty sure the civil rights act made it illegal to go to a polling center with the express intent to intimidate minorities and discourage them from voting [editline]16th October 2016[/editline]
Lol no, America is majority's tyranny First past the post, winner takes all Proportional democracies give minorities a playing field, nobody who isnt a Democrat or Republican has a voice there
our system is at least better than a parlamentary system where the winning coalition usually can do anything and the opposition can do fuckall to stop them. its really really hard to get a supermajority in all the branches of the US gov at the same time, and even then state and local legislatures often swing pretty hard in response
I kind of doubt this election would have been that different in bernie was the nominee. I'm sure the media would have torn him just as they did hillary.
I kind of doubt this election would have been that different in bernie was the nominee. I'm sure the media would have torn him just as they did hillary.
I don't think there is anything for them to tear him on TBH.
I don't think there is anything for them to tear him on TBH.
I'm sure something would be found

I think the GOP will take measures to shore up their nomination process to prevent another demagogue outsider from stealing the show, but more importantly I think we're going to see a hard shift to a more socially moderate platform. Potentially irreparable damage has been done to the GOP's standing with women and minorities, and they were already in poor standing. Without significant measures to appeal to those demographics, the GOP simply won't have enough popular support to win elections on a national level anymore.
I'm sure something would be found
"bernie sanders is JEWISH"
I’ll look for . . . well, it’s called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American,” he said. “I’m going to go right up behind them. I’ll do everything legally. I want to see if they are accountable. I’m not going to do anything illegal. I’m going to make them a little bit nervous.” Some Trump supporters say that if he doesn’t win, they figure the United States government will be no better than dictatorships where elections cannot be trusted.
Are you fucking serious right now
To be fair you have just as many dumbass nut jobs on the other side of the aisle.... Not defending the retarded behavior of course, but this sort of radical ideology isn't just a right wing problem
To be fair you have just as many dumbass nut jobs on the other side of the aisle.... Not defending the retarded behavior of course, but this sort of radical ideology isn't just a right wing problem
That's certainly true, but the key difference here is that Donald Trump has made the cornerstone of his campaign intentionally stoking the fires of this political radicalism. While Sanders had his nuts, and Clinton has hers, neither ever made any deliberate effort to incite them to violence and rioting as Trump has. They certainly never demanded that they intimidate voters at the polls.
How crazy would it be if one of his supports actually assassinated his opponent.
To be fair you have just as many dumbass nut jobs on the other side of the aisle.... Not defending the retarded behavior of course, but this sort of radical ideology isn't just a right wing problem
It's mostly a right-wing problem. Left-wing radicalism here in the United States has just been a growing response to it over the years. One side starts pushing, the other side gets angry and pushes back. That's the physics of group psychology for you; the circumstances we're in now are just an inevitability of all the increasing tension over the years. [editline]17th October 2016[/editline] Like if you look here in recent months, the reason why we have more left-wing radicals now is precisely because Trump as a presidential candidate and his supporters have come along with their right-wing rhetoric and are deliberately starting shit to incite the left-wing.
yes, i'm sure all of the republican senators hate obama for being black, rather than for being a democrat president
I never said every Republican senator hated Obama for that reason, but many of the more high-profile Republicans, the kind that gridlock Congress, most likely do. [editline]16th October 2016[/editline]
How crazy would it be if one of his supports actually assassinated his opponent.
It would definitely damage the reputation of right wing politics. Hillary would become a martyr and Trump would lose in a landslide to whoever takes her place. In a sinister way, it would be the best thing to ever happen to the American left-wing. The establishment would lose a figurehead and gain massive sympathy.
“I’ll look for . . . well, it’s called racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American,” he said. “I’m going to go right up behind them. I’ll do everything legally."
Poll watching is illegal, dumbass.

Which leads to boogiemen being created.
I never said every Republican senator hated Obama for that reason, but many of the more high-profile Republicans, the kind that gridlock Congress, most likely do.
Right. I remember now how the high profile republicans all love people like Harry Reid, Fienstein, and even Hillary, but just hated Obama. Wake up and smell the progressives vs conservatives. They dislike his politics, not his skin color.
Poll watching is illegal, dumbass.
http://www.care2.com/causes/are-poll-watchers-legal.html
Lol I still hate Hillary and I'm going to wear some of her campaign material when I vote, fuck those guys
http://www.care2.com/causes/are-poll-watchers-legal.html
You gotta be kidding me.
Fuck Trump, Fuck his supporters, Fuck this Election, and FUCK THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! These goddamn degenerate fucks really cry out for blood if the rest of the sane people of this nation dont want to elect Trump. Go all right on to goddamn hell you dick wads.
Lol I still hate Hillary and I'm going to wear some of her campaign material when I vote, fuck those guys
Personally, I don't think that's something worth potentially dying over.
You gotta be kidding me.
Well it is legal in some locations but it has to be a neutral observer.
Personally, I don't think that's something worth potentially dying over.
Agreed. The world needs more level heads.
Personally, I don't think that's something worth potentially dying over.
I live in Midwestern neighborhood where the most people do is just give slightly disgruntled looks Trumples walking into black neighborhoods with that kind of BS like Trump wants are the ones that are at risk really.
Personally, I don't think that's something worth potentially dying over.
I'd like to think that it's worth the risk if the alternative is living in fear because of what fucking clothes you wear. It's your right to wear whatever clothes you want and I'd rather exercise that right and risk bring the violent fuckwads out of the woodwork than give up that right out of fear. It seems like a rather far-fetched scenario though, I doubt you'd be in any real danger.
