I just went to check some dates on Wikipedia in a hope to make a terrible sarcastic comment about Americans being behind on everything but it seems that almost everyone has known about this for four or five years and have been vaccinating against it. It does. Its the whole point of the HPV vaccine.
The real problem (according to a BBC program I saw bits of a while ago) is that males are not vaccinated (in the UK at least) but are at just as much risk as females. According to the program the Government here thought that by vaccinating females they would be able to stop it spreading fast.
