• Air Asia flight QZ 8501 'missing'

I hope everyone is safe, though it seems unlikely given how long the plane has been missing.
I'm starting to think theres maybe another bremuda triangle there but I'll stay quiet until much more is known
Useless conspiracy mongering. The plane went down after the pilots requested an altitude change due to severe thunderstorm activity. Yeah if it was a thunderstorm diversion then maybe it got hit by lightning? Could be a freak accident.
Yeah if it was a thunderstorm diversion then maybe it got hit by lightning? Could be a freak accident.
Something had to happen. There are so many things that thunderstorms can threaten an aircraft with. It's possible some sort of severe wind shear had an effect, for example. Planes get hit by lightning all the time, though.
Yeah if it was a thunderstorm diversion then maybe it got hit by lightning? Could be a freak accident.
Lightning doesn't affect airplanes - or if it did, it would be extremely rare. Airplanes nowadays go through various testing phases to ensure they are safe from lightning and have been made to nullify its impact. If it were an especially severe storm, it's possible other elements effected it though - but again, planes are pretty immune to most weather.
From about 50 minutes ago - local news on Belitung reports that search parties found aircraft debris in the water, east of the island. This coincides with the path of the flight, and is near where the ADS-B signal dropped.
Is there a wormhole over the Indian ocean or something?
Its where the aliens work on their plane collection.
Jakarta Post: AirAsia flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore is believed to have crashed at the location 03.22.46 South and 108.50.07 East, in waters around 145 kilometers from Belitung, a National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) official has said. Basarnas Pangkalpinang spokesperson Supriandi said, as reported by Antara news agency on Sunday, that it had dispatched a rescue team to Belitung. It is believed that the Airbus A320 had circled over the sea near Belitung to avoid a storm before it experienced severe turbulence and crashed into the ocean. QZ8502 is reported to have had 155 passengers on board, 16 of which were children.
Yeah if it was a thunderstorm diversion then maybe it got hit by lightning? Could be a freak accident.
lightning doesn't affect planes at all because exterior is a Faraday cage, preventing any kind of current to pass inside it. It just conducts the electricity around the plane then out, the inside and wiring is completely unharmed.
Now this won't just fuck with the economics of Air Asia, but all Asian airlines in general. People will have a hard time trusting airlines with now 3 Asian Airliners crashing in just a year.
Is there a wormhole over the Indian ocean or something?
Is it that preposterous?
My dad says the singaporean might not be a singaporean after all. But take it with some grains of salt. Source: dad is a press journalist working for the only newspaper company in singapore
My dad says the singaporean might not be a singaporean after all. But take it with some grains of salt. Source: dad is a press journalist working for the only newspaper company in singapore
There's only one newspaper company in all of Singapore? Wow.
In Indonesia for work and my co-worker and i was supposed to go back on this airplane but we changed our tickets to next month. D:
There's only one newspaper company in all of Singapore? Wow.
It's also heavily government controlled
It's also heavily government controlled
Just like every other thing in Singapore... I like the country though...
we are currently having a shitty weather throughout the month some reports said that they are flying through a very bad weather
graphs
Damn they had some good planes back in the early 1900's
My dad says the singaporean might not be a singaporean after all. But take it with some grains of salt. Source: dad is a press journalist working for the only newspaper company in singapore
You make it sound like the Straits Times is the only media/news company that has printed news when it really isn't. -___-
Yeah, that's definitely not right on FR24's part:
It could reappear, there's no official report saying it has been downed, unless they reported to ATC there was a problem on board and they were declaring a mayday don't jump the gun too soon
The picture in the OP implies it's in the drink. 750ft altitude, 160 knots speed, that far away from the island? That's not parameters typical of an A-320. I'm betting it took a swim.
Yeah, that's definitely not right on FR24's part:
It did land. In the ocean... edit: Jokes aside holy crap what is it with planes this year?
My friend is on this flight... I really hope it's found good and safe.
Just had a look at the list of passengers and it doesn't list any Australians on board. Not sure if he has British citizenship or something else. Hasn't been an update on Facebook from him in nearly 24 hours though which is still making me pretty worried.
Phone him? Phone his parents?
No idea who his parents are, he isn't exactly on good terms with them and his phone isn't ringing. Although that could just be because he didn't bother to get international roaming.
I recall seeing a list of actual names before, have you seen that?
No I haven't seen that, just what's on the news listing the nationalities.
You can find the passenger manifest (who was on the plane) here: http://www.scmp.com/news/asia/article/1669513/list-passengers-air-asia-flight-qz-8501 I hope they're not listed.
It did land. In the ocean... edit: Jokes aside holy crap what is it with planes this year?
stop making these fucking shitty jokes. nobody appreciates this kind of shit.
Yeah, that's definitely not right on FR24's part:
They don't have a "crashed" status I'm guessing.
