OMG they're going to invade
Fun fact: Did you know that the US military originally wanted to order 132 B-2 Spirit bombers? That would have cost $277 billion. Congress told them to fuck right off though.
The picture isn't longer available even when accessed directly. Looks like Facepunch overloaded some poor server :v:
Neat, although from what I've read it's being built to compete with the F-22, which is being canceled, because we dont need an air superiority fighter anymore.
I wouldn't be surprised if Russia realizes the same thing.
The F-22 wasn't canceled. Your Secretary of Defense Gates decided to stop further production.
How many people died?

apparently one engine ripped off during the flight and fell on her car
Looks to me like all they did was make the Su-33 stealth somehow...
I thought the Su-47 was the nextgen russian fighter. Right?

Yup, it's a fighter-bomber.

For clarification, they're are developing it to compete with the new F-35 Lightning II JSF fighter bomber. Not to be confused with the F-22 which is and overly expensive, highly outdated highly under-preforming cold war era designed stealth fighter bomber.
Join strike fighter is being build and constantly improved to be far superior and much much cheaper than the Raptor, and it's the same reason we're tossing the F-22.

I'm pretty sure the F22 is still a more than capable aircraft. Hell, An F18 is decades old and is still great.

The F22 is being cancelled because there is no need for any number of air superiority fighters any more. Its actually a very very capable fighter, beyond really any other in the world.
Yes the F35 is going to be more cost effective and see better usage, in bombing and air support roles, but it would not be any real match in Air-Air combat against the F22. In addition the F35 is being developed about as fast as duke nukem forever. By the time it reaches full production through 2015-2016 it will have taken TWENTY YEARS of development, and over TEN YEARS will have passed since they flew it the first time. The SVTOL was first tested just TWENTY THREE days ago, THREE full years since the first flight.

Perhaps this is why we need the F-22.
This new plane is hot.

It wasn't cancelled we just cut a ton of orders in favor of the almost equal F35

The F22 is in no way outdated or underperforming, it is clearly the highest performing plane in existence, it can fly at like 60 degrees relative to attitude, meaning it can fly through turns and point missiles at things way ahead of it. The F22 is just too expensive.
I've always preferred Russian aircraft design over any western designs. They somehow just look more awesome.
I have a taste for older Western aircraft, particularly the B-47.

Yes we do. Just because we don't need one in our current conflict doesn't mean we never will, and it's better to have one available than to have to build them once we do.
It's a cheap knock-off the F-35.

Well americans did copy alot of the russians too.
Are you kidding? Because if you're not, I will laugh uncontrollably at you.

No It would be vice versa. Attack Helicopters for one. ATGMs and there is many more.

Nope. Both weapons were first developed and fielded by the French with the SS.11 missile and experiments in mounting 20mm autocannon in light Alouette helicopters during the Algerian War of Independence.

Well large scale use of assault rifles.
A part of war competition is, to successfully uncover, inspect and assimilate technology of even potential enemy.
One thing I like about Russian military fighters is that they have a large gap between the engines. I've noticed it a few times and I don't know what seems so special about it, but it's just generally cool.

We have 130+ F-22s that currently do nothing but sit in hangars or fly at air shows, and the capacity to restart production whenever we want. I think that's plenty.
Good for Russia.
"Mayday, mayday, we're going down, i repeat. We're going down!"
Well large scale use of assault rifles.
Nazi germany
where is your god now communist scum
The STG44 was expensive to produce and not suitable for scale the AK47 was used for, bolt action rifles were still the way. The AK-47 was the first real assault rifle to become standard issue for an entire army.
if the war lasted until 1946 all K98s and most MP40s would have been replaced by STGs. Sooner if it weren't for the whole constant bombing thing
For the wehrmacht or the masses of civilian conscripts? I could see it for the wehrmact...because they weren't exactly big by 1945. But for the conscripts, I'm not sure germany even had enough productive power to do so by 1945. What would be the point anyway? STG's are more difficult to maintain then a K98 or an MP40, so why would they give it out to untrained civilians? The original weapons do the job well enough, and are cheaper and more suitable to equip a bunch of conscripts with.
