Pacific Rim looked horrible, so that's no surprise. I mean, I'm pretty hip to robots and monsters and whatnot, but the movie didn't seem to have anything else going for it. The trailers displayed a poorly written mess, and the fact that it's starring Charlie flippin' Hunnam doesn't inspire much confidence.
Pacific Rim seems like nothing more than a gimmicky, patronizing money grab, as far as I'm concerned! It's like the director just Googled "nerd culture" and crammed as much shit together in one movie as he could to bring people to the theaters.
I agree with how it LOOKED, but I saw it and it's actually really fun and incredibly cool. And the director is guillermo del toro, it's safe to say that dude a nerd. Go see it before you pass judgment
Isn't this movie just 100% hype from children and manchildren going "giant robots wooooo".
I dunno about you, but most of my interest is because of Guillermo del Toro's involvement.
The guy responsible for Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy 2 given full reign over what is, essentially, an Evangelion vs H.P. Lovecraft movie? Holy shit yes.
Rottentomatoes is a horrible site to go by.
A good 75%+ of the time, good movies are rated shit and shit movies are rated good.
Havent seen Pacific Rim, dont plan on it. Seen the trailers, it doesnt interest me at all.
Really like the first Grown Ups, as did the rest of my family, plan on watching the second one. Same with Despicable Me 2
You are the reason for this
because adam sandler and his cronies needed more money/to be relevant again
Am I the only person who thinks Adam Sandler is an unfunny hack? Yeah sure maybe his early movies were funny but in the last decade pretty much every movie I saw him in screamed of "shitty Hollywood toilet humour shlock funded by personal connections"
um charlie hunnam is cool, have u seen sons of anarchy?
Yes, it's a flippin' terrible show, and I literally cannot comprehend why it is popular.
do you have any good examples of this?
He basically listed one in his post: Grown Ups.
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 10%, which is clearly wrong since it's such an amazing movie. Afterall, FordLord's family enjoyed it, and they're the toughest critics of all.

have you see it though? or just assume Biker gang = terrible show

I'll wait until it's on Netflix, prolly. Your judgment is usually pretty solid about this stuff, but the movie just doesn't hold much appeal for me!

I watched four seasons of it. Rotten show. I would rather be trapped on a mountain and have to eat both of my legs to survive than continue. Which is a shame, because I was actually pretty stoked about the concept when I heard of it.
Wait, people actually went to fucking see Grown Ups 2?
Fucking christ. I don't even care if you did it for the "irony" you deserve to be euthanized if you give Adam Sandler money for that garbage.
herf, it's only been out a day therefore I must post news..
I'm sure It'll make loads of cash outside the US at least. And yeah I'll be seeing it next weekend as well.
If After Earth can make money... anyone can.
You guys are seriously missing out by not watching this movie. It was pretty awesome

what
It is my duty to commit to film the finest fucking monsters ever committed to screen and it is my duty to create the greatest fucking robots ever committed to screen.

Del Toro's work is characterised by a strong connection to fairy tales and horror, with an effort to infuse visual or poetic beauty.[1] He has a lifelong fascination with monsters, which he considers symbols of great power.[2]
I mean if you think you won't enjoy the film then you probably won't, but what you're saying is just plain factually wrong. GDT gave lots of shits about the film. it's an homage to giant monsters and giant robots pulled off well.

if you think so. I do find some things annoying in the show, mainly what the writer chooses to do with his characters, i guess i just wanna see how it ends
I expect to see a huge news story connecting a huge increase in suicide rates to viewership of Grown Ups 2.
Can't believe Pacific Rim isn't doing that well. It freakin' has Charlie Day as a scientist. With how hilarious he is playing as Charlie in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, I can only imagine how he is as someone smart.
Pacific Rim looks more like one of those movies where 'It was good, but I wouldn't pay money to see it at the cinema'
you are missing out
severely
That's sad when you lose to Despicable Me
despicable me 2 was really good though
minions are like the most adorably halarious awsome things in the world, if it were possible id totally have an army of them under my house in a bunker
Saw it yesterday.
Story was awful.
The action reminded me of Transformers or the Last 10 Minutes of Power Rangers except alot better, combined with Godzilla.
If Pacific Rim did anything well, it was the Action.
everytime i see pacific rim's trailers though i think "oh god jocks with giant robots"
despicable me 2 was really good though

the minions completely turned me off from ever wanting to see those movies, they're just overused in the marketing campaigns and are super annoying

I had a whole bunch typed out, before accidentally clicking out of the window :V
While Grown Ups was 10% by critics, it was like by 59% of users.
Im on mobile, and havent switched to the full site, so have a few random examples from the mobile site;
A Cinderella Story, 11% by critics, 59% by users
Escape from Planet Earth, 27% by critics, 57% by users
About A Boy, 93% critics like, 51% users like
White Chicks, 15% critics like, 62% users like
Home Alone 2, 24% critics like, 62% users like
School of Rock, 92% critics like, 63% users like
The Incredibles, 97% critics like, 67% users like
The Blair Witch Project, 87% critics like, 47% users like
Ace Ventura - When Nature Calls, 33% critics like, 73% users like
This basically shows, critics arent always right. Ive seen a lot of this happen on Rottentomatoes, a bit more than other places
the minions completely turned me off from ever wanting to see those movies, they're just overused in the marketing campaigns and are super annoying
then you probably shouldn't go see this movie....
[sp]its rather small plot is mostly around the minions and their antics[/sp]

Are you saying the Incredibles was bad? If so, then something is seriously wrong with you.
Aww man it makes me sad to think that Adam Sandler isn't funny anymore
remember Little Nicky
remember Happy Gilmore
:C

Like Mike Myers.
remember Austin Powers?

Same with About A Boy
That was a great film
Are you saying the Incredibles was bad? If so, then something is seriously wrong with you.
I never said i agreed with either ratings. I personally liked the Incredibles though.
The list is to mainly show that the critics arent always right on Rottentomatoes, and they do tend to give ratings that are far from what the viewers give
Edit;
Ive never seen About A Boy or Cinderella Story. I cant give my own opinion on them
This is the same shit Transformers sees, a bunch of people who hate it just because they can't get over their stupid mindset of "action=dumb" because they have such difficulty just enjoying a movie rather than being so critical everything fucking second.

I think 'Click' and '50 First Dates' might have been his last decent movies. At least those had some heart.
I enjoyed it because I went to it knowing what it was and why it was. I wasn't expecting something that it couldn't deliver. Back when they first announced it, he talked about how he drew a lot of inspiration from things like Japanese monster and robot movies and shows and such, and that he wanted to really just make a movie about giant robots and city destroying monsters. It delivered exactly what I expected from it with cool fights and cool monsters and such.
