Guess what? The terrorists just won.
If you don't want to be offended by it, then don't watch it.
I think its more the fact that they don't want 7/7 and home grown terrorism in the UK to be trivialized. A fair enough reason, even if some of their reasoning are slightly trivial.
I thought Mark Kermodes review of it was pretty good and sensible considering.
A couple of hurt families don't have the right to stop a major UK film from being released, simply because it's about terrorists.
I think that we should make a comedy about the Holocaust. People need to learn to get over it. I'll play Hitler and you can play a Jew.
That sounds like a great idea, let's troll some jews until they stop whining over what happened some bloody 70 years ago. Getting butthurt is useless. Why would this movie harm them? More importantly, film is an expressive mediuim. We can't stop people from expressing themselves just because it makes some other people feel bad.
Telling people to boycott it gives it more publicity, people will google it, see the trailer, laugh and want to see it even more than before they heard about the boycott.
Those who are pissy about this movie need to go get a sense of humor.

It's retarded to boycott something like this. All you are saying to the terrorists is that they were successful and you would bow down to please them. If anything people should be forced to laugh at the movie. Making a mockery of things is a lot more effective than being sensitive towards them.
Would you think it was hilarious if it was about the bombing that killed your uncle?
That's the thing. I have seen so many movies (short movies) etc. About the bombings and it hasn't effected me! My uncles dead and that's that. Don't get me wrong, he was a funny bastard and I miss him. But People die and there is nothing we can do about it and unfortunately people die in the worst scenarios!
Surely if we boycott this the terrorists have won? The best revenge is to not be affected by their violence. While we should mourn those who died we can't let the extremists get the better of us.

The movie seems more like ripping the piss out of terrorist. It's not as if they are glorifying the terrorists!
There have been comedies made of world war 2, you don't see people moaning about them. This isn't making fun of the terrorist acts themselves, it's making fun of terrorists and how ill equiped they are and most of the time just end up hurting themselves. This boycott is silly.
There have been comedies made of world war 2, you don't see people moaning about them.
Well they did closer to the time, Its hard to think it now but when Dad's Army first aired there was a Hohar about that too.
This looks funny but it's really self-absorbed of you guys to say this kind of stuff about tragedies that happened to other people Unless you lost family in a terrorist attack 5 years ago you really don't have a leg to stand on
heh heh
Gormless tossers
Okay so it makes the people who bombed look like totally incompetent idiots. The entire film is INSULTING the people who DID the bombing. This is like the ultimate revenge. The victims don't play into this at all.
Exactly, laughter is the best medicine. And I this case the best weapon. What better way to stick two up at Osama and Co. than to produce ways and means that take the pain, suffering and terror that they wish spread and combat it with laughter and mirth?
Osama and Co... are you joking?
Osama and Co... are you joking?
I can't spell any terroist group other than the IRA and even then its a struggle :(
Hezbollah, Al Queda, the taliban Those are easy as fuck to spell man. And this film looks awesome as hell, I'm so going to see it :v:
52 people =/= 17 million.
2,985 died in 9/11 and 6 million in the holocaust...
Would you think it was hilarious if it was about the bombing that killed your uncle?
I didn't know we had to be a fascist dictator ship where free speech is determined by whether people are offended or not.
2,985 died in 9/11 and 6 million in the holocaust...
11 million died in the Holocaust. 6 million were Jews.
This film looks hilarious, I wanna see it.
Hezbollah, Al Queda, the taliban Those are easy as fuck to spell man. And this film looks awesome as hell, I'm so going to see it :v:
Loving the irony. It's spelt Al Qaeda.
I think that we should make a comedy about the Holocaust. People need to learn to get over it. I'll play Hitler and you can play a Jew.
I imagine there probably are some. Personally I think if people find it offensive they shouldn't see it. That and that by feeling as if it reminds them of the 2005 bombings then the terrorists get what they wanted, to make a lasting impression and make people scared or fearful, by getting over it we show that while it was a tragic event for those involved we don't let them stop our lives from going on.
Looks pretty funny to me.
The family have this all wrong - this is how we defeat the terrorists. "Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand." - Mark Twain.
That looks so fucking funny. Will definately try and go and see it.
I thought this thread was going to be about four lions producing a documentary about a boycott :(
