And mobile games that nobody plays
From what I hear, they have a great business in lottery machines and those toy despencers. Edit What he said ^
Wow so Konami ended up screwing them. Did not see that coming.
I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner. I mean, isn't Konami known for being somewhat crap? I'm actually amazed that Kojima only now leaves Konami.
So... are Konami planning on being financed through mediocre Castlevania games, shite Silent Hill games made by no one who understands Silent Hill, and PES?
They're planning on being financed through pachinko, slot machines and Japanese gyms.
SO no ZoE-3 or any more Metal Gear games after this? :( i hope to go Kojima gets to keep the licenses not Konami.
I really hope this doesn't mean Silent Hills is going to become terrible or abandoned. But it probably will.
SO no ZoE-3 or any more Metal Gear games after this? :( i hope to go Kojima gets to keep the licenses not Konami.
Unfortunately knowing Konami they'll probably keep the license in their cold dark grip until they go out of business
I really hope this doesn't mean Silent Hills is going to become terrible or abandoned. But it probably will.
Konami has a hand of killing good franchises. Just look at how they killed Castlevania after the superb Order of Ecclesia.
I really hope this doesn't mean Silent Hills is going to become terrible or abandoned. But it probably will.
If those motherfuckers cancel it and all we got is P.T., or fuck it up in general, I'm going to be pissed beyond belief. Silent Hill is my favorite horror franchise and I'm so hopeful that it comes back, and comes back good.
Konami has a hand of killing good franchises. Just look at how they killed Castlevania after the superb Order of Ecclesia.
Kinda sucks there's not a Castlevania general.
I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner. I mean, isn't Konami known for being somewhat crap? I'm actually amazed that Kojima only now leaves Konami.
konami is incredibly money focused. they've had plenty of similar debacles in the past
Konami has a hand of killing good franchises. Just look at how they killed Castlevania after the superb Order of Ecclesia.
Order of Ecclesia is so bitter sweet to me. It was fantastic and absolutely my favorite Castlevania. But it was also the last good one and, unless you count that arcade coop game, the only one to feature Shanoa. So we're never going to get anything good like that again. Maybe Platinum can convince Konami to let them make a new Castlevania starring Shanoa. I mean, it is right up their alley.
I really hope this doesn't mean Silent Hills is going to become terrible or abandoned. But it probably will.
Konami would be foolish to not try to shoehorn a game out of it to release. It has a lot of hype around it, so they could make a lot of money which is all they care about. That being said, without Kojima's involvement, the game will just be a shell of what it could've been, and will not be the Silent Hill game that fans have been craving for years. The only thing good that Konami could probably publish after all of this is Metal Gear Rising 2, but something tells me that Konami will have a lot of direct influence over how the game would turn out instead of Platinum. I have to wonder as well, does this mean the end of the FOX Engine? Does Kojima's team own the rights to the engine, or is it Konami? Will we have sort of the same scenario like the X-Ray Engine vs. the 4A Engine. Will Konami be like GSC, who were essentially stuck with the remnants of the engine they had at the time?

Doesn't that technically mean Konami owns the FOX engine? I pray to god I'm wrong. I want to see FOX in the hands of people who can take advantage of it.
there is no way mgs can survive without kojima 90% of mgs development is everyone going "KOJIMA NO" and kojima going "kojima yes"
Cue pictures of Kojima Productions developer talking about how Kojima said there was gonna be a vampire in the game and he thought it was just a joke. [editline]19th March 2015[/editline]
That's what I mean. Don't get me wrong, Metal Gear Rising was one of the absolute best hack-and-slash games I've ever played, and this is coming from a DMC fan. I'd say Bayonetta's about on par. But as a Metal Gear game? Mediocre. It's all about the story and characters, and this was just too angsty.
It was more about the gameplay, not the story obviously. I mean, its Platinum. The developer team that has 2 games about sexy witches fighting gigantic over the top demons in the most extraordinary ways. It's almost like expecting Michael Bay to Exchange explosions for a story in a Transformer's movie, but obviously on a lower level. [editline]19th March 2015[/editline]
So... are Konami planning on being financed through PES?
Literaly the only thing that MIGHT reel in money.
fuck the only two game's that konmai was working on I cared about( maybe MGr2 as well) was MGSV and SH's they better not fuck up the SH game I hope if he does leave before finishing making the game at least wright the story and stuff. [editline]19th March 2015[/editline] turns out there staying till December so not right away is he leaving so that gives me some hope for SH's.
because valve is trying to get japanese companies on steam lately. instead of flying each one to seattle every time you want to talk to em (Kamiya and Platinum games), you just go to valve japan and do it there. you also get to have good japan talent that has no boundaries or budget concerns.
No that would be terrible, while there are good hard working people at valve it's still has the problematic people who established a hierarchy over there in there so called flat system. A lot of bad stuff that goes on is kept under wraps due to a tight lip NDA. And the impression I got from the people I talked with in and out of valve is that if there isn't an NDA you don't say anything that hasn't been publicly said because people inside the company would have an axe to grind with you, which is not good because that company partially runs on favors internally. If you want kojima productions to adopt a flat system it would be more efficient in productivity and overall mental health if they made their own flat based company. If you want valve to be involved the best valve can do is become a producer/physical publishing company to produce and help publish content made by flat companies it hires. Then once that smaller flat company gets off their feet with enough money to become self sufficient, valve can let them go to become an independent company. The profit valve can make is through exclusive deals with the source 2 engine and any modifications to the engine, valve would have the right to use that content and will have that same benefit once gone independent. Ideally, valve doesn't have to grow and the benefits of flat companies which are ideal in small numbers (cabals don't count) trickle back into valve's pockets.

I hope Kojima clears things up a little bit about what is or isn't going to happen to Silent Hills. That game is up in the air while MGS5 is most likely near the end of development.

Man, I hope that for their own sake, Konami backpedals hard and gives Kojima whatever he wants.
I'm looking at 8chan /v/ and people are flipping the fuck out, spouting that its the coming of the next video game industry crash... what
Well, the industry literally is teetering on the brink of disaster. Budgets are starting to escalate out of reason, quality control is vanishing in to thin air, the market has become hyper-saturated with mediocre and rehashed annual garbage, most of the industry is becoming more and more disconnected from the core audiences, there are a ton of problems. But this, specifically, is not likely to be any kind of tipper.

If it eventually means the death of all publishing companies, I'm behind it 100 per cent. Star Citizen is proof positive that they're losing relevance and importance fast, if not yet irrelevant.
I don't want Silent Hills without Kojima Del Toro by himself is cool yes but Kojima was the man who was going to make the game part of the game brilliant we could've actually saved silent hill people we could've Also he's been talking for years how much he's wanted to make Silent HIll. And they take it away from him. Just brutal.
I'm looking at 8chan /v/ and people are flipping the fuck out, spouting that its the coming of the next video game industry crash... what
I missed that part, but there's a lot of sadness. is it true koijma productions USA has had their name changed?
I missed that part, but there's a lot of sadness. is it true koijma productions USA has had their name changed?
By the looks of it, yes. The Los Angeles Studio now has Konami at the start of it instead of Konami Productions LA. Has me very concerned about MGO3 since, i have a bad feeling the head ups of Konami are saying to them "Here, westernize this to fuck" and turn it into another Call of Duty clone, which we all know doesnt fucking work. Doesnt Konami own a fair portion of the arcade scene in Japan?
Someone needs to buy the rights to the Fox engine back from Konami. Kojima developed that with some of his own money, and now they've got sole ownership of it. That shit just isn't fair.
Silly Konami, you don't fire your sole moneymaker.
