damn muslamic ray guns
And they usually alert authorities
So should they warn the insurgents if they know of an incoming US attack or airstrike?
Unless the tv crew is specifically embedded with a particular force I don't think they're under any real jurisdiction.
Its like that famous case about the BBC in the Falklands where some British General flipped his shit and wanted them tried for treason for reporting on 'potentially sensitive' troop movements. Then don't let supposedly unbiased crew teams report live from your positions.
The BBC won in the end. And they were right to do so.
I've never heard of Al Jazerra, is it any good or reliable?
Depends on what they are reporting, if you remember its owned by Qatari royalty and that there may be some bias it is one of the best news sources out there. Of course its always a good idea to read the news in multiple places.
Their coverage of the Arab spring was some of the best live TV coverage I have ever watched. At times they seriously put themselves at risk to report to the outside world.
for fucks sake we don't need any more of the liberal media
it's basically the most egregious display of cultural islamo-marxist hyperfeminist cant I've ever seen
Article updated; the deal has apparently been signed and the name Al Jazeera America is confirmed
snIP
Not that I agree with it, but their contact who informed them would probably end up on the internet having his head cut off if they had
What happened was an Al Jazeera video of a 21,000 kg truck bomb driving into the FOB made it on the internet.

You sure it wasn't an insurgent filmed tape posted to Al Jazeera? Because that happens all the time.
I wanna go on record, again, as saying that Americans have the shittiest fucking television ever. The absolute worst I've ever experienced in any other country.
Six commercial breaks per movie, I've counted, at one point. Jeeeesus fuck. And they are long fucking commercials.
In SA we get British channels that have like 2 commercial breaks and that's it.
Yeah but your commercial breaks last at least 10 minutes.

They obviously valued the life of their contact more then. As much as they may be assholes for it, but people value the lives of friends than those of (to them) faceless soldiers
I personally can't wait for the fox news comments.
You sure it wasn't an insurgent filmed tape posted to Al Jazeera? Because that happens all the time.
Pretty sure considering that there were Al Jazeera interviews with the insurgents training for the attack.
Yeah but your commercial breaks last at least 10 minutes.
No they don't, they are around a minute, minute and a half.

Again with another crude analogy. News crews should be more like wildlife film crews than actual participants.
It doesn't stop it being damn cold just to let a bombtruck ride up to a load of people just for getting a good shot of it.
This should be interesting, most Americans still think Al Jazeera is some Al Qaeda-funded terrorist propaganda network or something. Nobody knows it's, like, actual news. Actual news that is often of higher quality than the US networks.
Pretty sure considering that there were Al Jazeera interviews with the insurgents training for the attack.
But of the actual attack? I mean hell even the BBC has insurgent interviews.

The difference is people aren't wildlife

In Britain we only had like, 5 fucking channels (Well, in the 90's). You don't like what's on BBC 1, well flick the telly to BBC 2 and see what's on there. At least what was normally on was good.
But I was in one of the families that was able to get American channels because my mum sold houses to rich nobs. And yes, there were still a fuck-ton of commercial breaks.

The analogy wasn't comparing people to wildlife you dummy.
It was the relationship between the crews and the film subject.
Pretty sure considering that there were Al Jazeera interviews with the insurgents training for the attack.
You were saying the news crews should be like wildlife filmers, i.e. stand back and lets things go on as if they were not there

Yes. That is the relationship that news crews adopt.
Shocked?
al jazeera actually is a great news channel.. the only "world" news channel worth watching imo.
I like how they use newsreaders from around the globe instead of just one place.
