I'm pretty sure it's Daredevil and not Batman who is blind.
Bats = use sound to hear.
Holy shit they did it? Holy jesus fuck! This is going faster than expected. Damn science, why are you so awesome?
I called it. I knew it was just a matter of time.
I swear I've heard of people getting bionic eyes like 4 times now
I'm going to wait for the day we can have digital eye sight where we can, in real time, analyze our surroundings. Imagine police forces and emergency operatives being able to record and at the same time, broadcast and stream everything they see during an operation. Perhaps not ever using a camera to take high-resolution pictures and simultaneously upload them to a server. Snipers on the battlefield using enhanced vision to zoom way past human limits, no need for high-magnification scopes.
This has to stop
this has twenty-nine disagrees and two dumbs if you want to make enemies, try to change something
Monthly fee. Don't want to pay it? They shut your eyes off.
Deus Ex. If you don't pay for the over-priced medicine, your body rejects its augments and they're rendered useless.
The cynical realist in me thinks that whenever this or any similar technology gets to the level of being actually applicable en masse, it'll be under the wing of some corporate monopoly that will rip people off. Slightly offtopic but there needs to be some sort of a global law against hoarding technology.
repo men
This'll probably be flagged as an elective by all the insurance companies, meaning you take on hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt to pay for it and end up losing everything you own. The technology is meaningless if it's only accessible by the ultra-wealthy.
No it's gotta be banned! They are playing god! This is the work of the devil! THE DEVIL I TELL YOU!
No it's gotta be banned! They are playing god! This is the work of the devil! THE DEVIL I TELL YOU!
Bah, once we Bionic supermen rule the world, you'll all be our slaves! HAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHHAHA lol
I'm sorry, but anyone that doesn't want this is an idiot, plain and simple, being able to see and hear is a massive part of being able to function properly in almost every task.
Some deaf people think that having hearing is a disability.
Curing a rare disorder = all blind people apparantly. Same with the Argos and those before it.
Bats = use sound to hear.
Along with countless other animals, including humans.
My mum has retinitis pigmentosa, wonder if this could help her out in the future. It's great news either way.
Now combine this with DARPA's heads up display contact lenses and Google's glasses and bam you have x-ray vision. Or something not close at all to that but shit that would be a trip
They've created this now, but imagine what it would be like in 50 years. People would get bionic eyes just like a tattoo, maybe with zoom functions, and maybe heat vision for soldiers!
I can't help but to think of the massive mind fuck this would have on someone if they only had it in one eye, and could see fine out of the other
What you will be seeing with this

It's really amazing how technology is progressing. I can only imagine what comes next.
Bionic eyes are actually about 20 years old. But they've gotten so much better. It used to be just a vague feeling of shape, and now they actually have depth etc.
I would want eyes that i could change the range of spectrum i see, like x-rays, or radio, or infra red.
Scope free sniping, and the sniper has a special laser that automatically sets a dot on the target that only the sniper can see, compensating instantly for gravity + wind. AKA autoaim.
Or just put a camera on the gun.

While I love videos like this, I hate how people seem to forget that Jensen had state of the art military grade augmentations that even in HR the average individual couldn't afford Whereas if you look at the average person in HR they have obviously less advanced augmentations and even then usually just the basics (like augmented legs or arms)
old, not really useful, but man speaks about advantages and disadvantages about bionic eye
Seriously, technology seems to have shot ahead by miles in 2012. This is awesome.
I recall hearing a very similiar story to this a few years ago.
Or just put a camera on the gun.
that too
It's true that they've had camera eyes for a while but they haven't been directly hooked up to the vision like that before
