Implying that Russia have no infrastructure is retarded. A single road from place A to place B is already infrastructure.
Implying that Russia don't have a single non-corrupt politician is just as retarded. Without it, Russia would fall apart.
inb4 snarky comments about how Russia is falling apart. It's not. Russia is a fully functional country, not particularly good but functional.
Roads, huh? Did you know that famous Russian quote: "There are only 2 problems in Russia - roads and fools"? You can tell about Russian infrastructure by looking at those roads:

But... But why not the space program?

Some nice infrastructure in the east of Russia. Ladies and gentlemen, M56 Highway!

Exactly what I was talking about. The roads are shit, but they are there.
Fresh news: Russian soldier hanged himself on 1st January 2012

Deaths in post-soviet armies are not rare.
I hate when they do that.
So 60 billion a year.
Thanks for the sensationalist bullshit guys

As a side note, that is almost as much as the F-35 has cost the United States
the F-35 was to reduce costs did you know that
F-22 is 5x more expensive and requires a shitload of man hours and maitennance
Probably only 1/10th of that money will fulfill its intended purpose. The rest will go direct into the pockets of politicians.
Russia's government will need some cleaning before they can talk about actually investing money into useful stuff.
Good for the US in some ways though
Russian counterterrorism forces already use lots of US made stuff.

Yes it is an AK, but all the accessories on it are US made. The camo pattern on the uniform is also US made but the actual uniform itself was likely made in Russia with royalties paid to Crye Precision, which is a US company, to use their camo pattern. So all this might be a sign of things to come for the standard Russian ground forces. And this is just upgrades that could be done for infantry alone.
Isn't the US the biggest weapon exporter in the world?
One of them, very closely followed by Russia. The top 10 exporter list goes something like this:
USA
Russia
Germany
France
UK
China
Netherlands
Sweden
Italy
Israel
And has been for the last 7 years, I know for certain that the UK is about 5th as we have weapon contracts with Australia and a few commonwealth countries.
Oh great.
Euroasian Union + Russia increasing military spending a shit load = Soviet Union 2.0?
Oh great.

The in communism little is put to a military budget, the only reason they are heavily associated is due to the cold war. That new super country that Putin wants = Soviet Union 2.0
E: Isn't most of russias military just repatched soviet gear anyways?
Hahaha, Russia is funny. It's called "budget sawing" and 599.9bil will be corrupted by deputies. They won't upgrade their military.

Their military is ancient and T-90 is soviet tank, but still Russians are unable to equip it with all needed electronics. Su-47 is just a prototype and everything else is ancient.
Don't trust Russian mass information it's same propaganda as it was 30 years ago. If you want to know what really is there read some real information, i.e. Alexey Navalny's blog.
I'm sorry you have no idea on what your talking about, the T-90 was invented in the Russian Federation and is more then capble of taking on anything the West can throw at it. Also the Air gap is filled by the Pak FA and the SU-35 which is receiving stealth coating and a new unmatched radar system as part of a previous modernization scheme.
Why do they need to? Their design is already superior

The only reason that Russia is not the top is because, a lot of countries produce AK clones with out production permission or recording from the ministry of defense.
My automerge!
after Russia's failure in Chechnya i can see why this would happen
Your incorrect, they failed the first war in the 90's when that idiot Yeltsin and his regime was in power, he also attempted to use local conscripts instead of having to deal with the logistics of pulling professional troops from the European border. He attempted to use some form of WW2 tactics in attacking the capital with his tanks.
They could rather use the 600Bn to root out their god damn corruption problems, repair/create infrastructure and fix the problems in their society. But no - put more money in the war machine so you can jam your military penis in the neighboring countries.
More blood for the blood god!
Stuff like this makes any country look retarded when they have much bigger problems.
Its preocupying how everyone is preparing for war though.

When one of the lead guys who is forming the Eurasian Union is quoted saying "the Eurasian Union would build upon the best values of the Soviet Union" I'd consider that a very bad road to go down

Doesent mean its going to be a clone of the USSR.
ITT: Infrastructure is roads and absolutely nothing else. Try looking up the word.
Oh great.

The Eurasian Union won't go anywhere unless the leaders of the former Soviet republics are stupid enough to surrender to Moscow, not even Belarus.
It's so sad that people find the need to spend this sort of money on defence from other people. There is so much more that money could be used for. Just imagine the possibilities if we were to work together.

They learned from the best.
People need to stop thinking that the T-90 is much weaker than modern tanks. And also, they really need to get rid of their Russia TU-95 bear planes. How the hell are they still scaring countries with a big, old, 4 prop engine plane?Plus, the only problem is that they have to improve the reliability, because everyone know that the soviet era planes are known to have problems.

Something could fall off and hit something important!
I hate how much money countries spend on the military. You would think they could just not bother with it and bribe each other to peace with the money they would save.
ITT: Everyone are military and politics experts and must prove everyone else wrong.
