Oh snap. I'll wait for an official announcement though before really believing this.
I'm not really expecting to get anything for free. I mean, seriously, this outage is costing shitloads to Sony and then people who haven't paid a dime for the service come requesting full games for free? :v:
Sony have a duty to provide the service. Regardless of whether it's free. It was one of their main selling points when the PS3 launched and still is today. If they don't provide it, then they're going to be left with tens of millions of unhappy customers who might just decide to sway away from their brand.
Then ofcourse you have those that have paid for Playstation Plus. They're going to be missing out on a month of content. Sony have announced that everyone, including those with PS Plus, will be getting a free month, but that only covers the one lost for those with the service. Surely they deserve something, since they're paying customers?
L.A. Noire please, and i might forgive you Sony ;)
It isn't up to sony which games you get (unless of course they publish them), it's up to the publisher of the game. Rockstar would lose millions if they gave out their game for free.
PSP users will also have two games, from a list of four.
:smug:
They probably suck though, but still.
Might be a good time to pick up a PS3 with people shelling theirs off due to such a short term issue.

I'm considering this too, especially if I can flash OtherOS++ on it.
Holy fuck that's a long time. This is worse than the RRODs probably, considering they also lost CC info.
This cannot even be compared to RRoDs. This is not the result of a hardware failure.
This cannot even be compared to RRoDs. This is not the result of a hardware failure.
Apples and Oranges really. Credit card information aside I think constant RRoDs would be more frustrating as a consumer than the network for the console being down for a month.
ps3 was doomed from the start
I hope the delay is for the best, because if its going to take that long I'm hoping they're seriously revamping their security standards massively instead of spending to much time tracking down the perpetrators, but still I hope the best for Sony in fixing their mess and everyone who was affected.

I meant as damage to the company's image.

It "May Be" back up?....
If we get 2 fucking Mini's I'm going to burn down some orphanages.

It says games of your choice
The on I'd recommend for racing fans would be Burnout Paradise if you don't have it already.
but la noire ? :'(
I heard on the radio today that they removed personal details from their servers
And moved them to twitter and facebook.
wow that must suck for every PSN user.
I'm probably gonna sell my PS3, not because I'm desperate for gaming, but just because the way Sony has been behaving and how their shit still hasn't gotten together. To be honest I'd rather pay $60 to know that my information is safe than pay no money and not know how secure my info is. Plus my mom wants Kinect.

But you don't know your information is safe on XBL either, not without MS telling us (they probably would), or without someone breaking into their system too. Sony thought theirs was secure, and it was until the PS3 got hacked to the extent it did.

Still can't be compared. RRoDs didn't cause leaks of sensitive, personal information.

well, what I think is that if whoever hacked PSN wanted to hack Xbox Live instead, they would've done so. They just saw PSN as an easier target, because of Sony's recent damages to their image due to otherOS removal / geohot

Plus Sony had outdated security
I've been hearing rumors. Bad ones. Can anyone confirm this?
The rumor is when PSN comes back online, PSN+ Will be required to play online as well as an additional security fee.
Please tell me this is not true because if it is, Sony just lost. Everything.

sony will know they wont be able to pull that off, I highly doubt it

Well I'm not even sure of the source to where the guy heard it. But it really made me concerned. Personally I won't be buying any PSN+, that's why I got my PS3 in the first place. Free online play! I'm running out my XBLGold and once that's gone that's it. I'm done. I don't like P2P services. I pay enough for the internet alone, I don't need another 50+ adding ontop of that.

I think you're mishearing it, we get a month free of PSN+ along with any two games for free.

Online will stay free. PSN+ is just a subscription to free games and exclusive content.
